NaturPak is seeking a dynamic and experienced Pet Nutritionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial leadership role in ensuring the nutritional compliance of all pet formulations at NaturPak. This position involves leading nutrition initiatives, leading our R&D efforts with customer projects, developing strategic relationships with ingredient suppliers, and proactively providing nutritional expertise to drive the company's mission forward.
As the Pet Nutritionist you will be responsible for:
Leadership & Strategy:
Lead and mentor the nutrition team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.Develop and implement nutrition strategies that align with company goals and market trends.Provide leadership in cross-functional projects from concept to commercialization.Product Development:
Oversee the development of new products within cost and nutritional guidelines.Collaborate with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Production teams to ensure products meet high-quality standards.Nutritional Compliance:Ensure all formulations comply with global regulatory requirements (AAFCO, FDA, etc.).Provide guidance on ingredient selection and specifications to support the nutrition strategy.Supplier & Customer Relations:
Build and maintain strategic relationships with existing and new ingredient suppliers.Proactively engage with customers to ensure compliance of formulations and drive continuous quality improvement.Occasionally visit customers as needed by the Customer Service/Sales department.Regulatory & Compliance Support:
Provide formulation information for product registration for export.Review packaging and labels for regulatory compliance.Research & Innovation:Stay abreast of the latest developments in pet nutrition and incorporate new findings into product development.Attend trainings, trade shows, and strategic industry meetings to represent NaturPak Pet.Quality Assurance Collaboration:
Liaise with the Quality Assurance team to ensure procedures, standards, and systems are effectively executed.Establish and oversee analytical testing programs, balancing risk and cost.Database Management:Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure the nutrient database (C5) is accurate and up-to-date.To be successful in the role you must possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Companion Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Nutrition, Food Science, or a related discipline is required.
- Master's or Ph.D. degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pet nutrition or related field.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and inspire teams.
- Proficient in commercial pet food formulation software (e.g., Concept 5).
- Experienced with global regulations pertaining to pet food (Canada, USA, Europe).
- Knowledge of global food safety certification programs (HACCP, SQF, BRC, ISO).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with a high attention to detail.
- Effective collaborator with cross-functional teams.
- The ideal candidate will be located in Janesville, WI or willing to travel to Janesville on a monthly basis.
