Job Description:false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Licensed in the State of Nevada as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist General Supervisor National certification is required otherwise, i.e., ASCP, AMT, ISCLT or NCA.GENERALPURPOSE:Under the direction of the LaboratoryManager, the Laboratory Technologist functions independently within the Policyand Procedures of Boulder City Hospital, performing medical laboratory testsincluding those requiring independent judgment as precisely and efficiently aspossible through the resources and providing data for diagnosis, treatment, andprevention of disease, and is involved in problem-solving, teaching, training andsupervisory assistance.ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:Positionrequires frequent standing, walking, sitting and bending at waist. Must have full dexterity of fingers and hands;vision must be 20/20 or corrected to 20/20, and must possess good communicationskills on the telephone and in person.DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs all assigned routine and complex laboratoryanalysis correctly as stated in the procedure manual and with absoluteintegrity; responsible for the recognition and correction of errors.2. Conducts Quality Control procedures for analyticaltest and instrumentation; evaluates results and implements corrective actionwhen indicated. 3. Performs instrument maintenance, calibration,standardization and troubleshooting with appropriate documentation.4. Verifies and reports patient results in a timelymanner either verbally, written or through the use of the computer system.5. Seeks supervisory consultation when indicatedconcerning unusual results, lab policy or procedural questions or instrumentproblems.6. Guarantees the confidentiality of patient identityand data at all times.7. Teaches and trains new employees.8. Participates in continuing education to maintainproficiency in procedures, techniques and instrumentation; participates inresearch and the development of new procedures.9. Interacts with hospital personnel, peers, patients,clients, visitors and supervisory personnel in a productive and professionalmanner.10. Understands and adheres to company policies asoutlined in the Employee Policy Manual.11. Performs related work as assigned, i.e., Phlebotomyand clerical duties.SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:1. Venipuncture and Phlebotomyskills.2. Organize and prioritize theworkflow (multitasking). 3. Good communication skills.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:1. BS Degree in MedicalTechnology or in Sciences, plus one year as a Laboratory Technologist or threeyears of college with substantial course work in Chemistry and Biology, plusone year of laboratory training.2. Licensed in the State of Nevada as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist General Supervisor.
