Overview: Oasis Associate
Heritage has job openings for individuals to work with the homeless population at Heritage's Oasis Day and Resource Center in Decatur/Macon County. The Oasis Day Center is traditionally open 10 hours each day (7 a.m. - 5 p.m.), 365 days a year.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Linkage for our guests to appropriate services
- Advocacy, client centered consultation, monitoring and assessment of client needs
- Building of relationships
- Assisting individuals in navigating the employment process
- Monitoring of the physical environment (both indoors and outdoors).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Provide excellent customer service
- Compassion, patience, and understanding of the homeless population's challenges
- Ability to comply with the rules and regulations of those organizations to which we are accountable
- High ethical and professional standards of conduct
- Possess the flexibility to work with high risk clients with complicated problems
- Possess an attitude of wanting to continuously improve their own performance as well as that of Heritage
- Above average computer skills (hardware/software)
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work within a team-based environment
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work alternating weekends and holidays on a routine basis.
Education and Experience:
- A minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Previous experience of working with the seriously and persistently mentally ill, substance using, and/or homeless populations is recommended
- Experience providing support to individuals in obtaining employment is highly desirable
- A valid Illinois driver's license, reliable means of transportation, and proof of current automobile insurance are also required of all Heritage employees.
Salary Range: $37,440-$45,760 per year ($18.00 - $22.00 per hour) - dependent on education and experience
