Job Summary
A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in an advanced practice registered nurse who practices both autonomously and in collaboration with a variety of health providers on the interprofessional team to deliver high-quality, holistic, evidence-based anesthesia and pain care services. The CRNA cares for patients at all acuity levels across the lifespan in a variety of settings for procedures including, but not limited to, surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and pain management.
Core Job Responsibilities
Administer anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures
Monitor patients' vital signs and adjust anesthesia levels as needed
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures
Assess patients' medical history and develop an appropriate anesthesia plan
Educate patients and their families about the anesthesia process and potential risks
Maintain accurate documentation of anesthesia administration and patient responses
Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
Advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
Experience in acute care settings, such as ICU or emergency department
Proficiency in electronic medical record systems, specifically Epic
Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare team members
Ability to work well under pressure and make critical decisions in a fast-paced environment
Licensure/Certification Requirements
REQUIRED:
Valid certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)
Current NYS nursing license
ALS / BLS certified
