Overview of Unit/Department

The oncology support services department's main focus is to meet the needs of patients seeking care in our outpatient oncology clinics. Our team is comprised of healthcare professionals who work together to address patients' barriers to care, advance our cancer program and provide a great experience for patients and staff alike.

* Job Summary

* The Office Coordinator I is responsible for receiving and sending referrals, compiling outside patient records, scheduling patient appointments, screening and properly directing calls coming into the department. Knowledgeable of oncology specific documents needed for a consulting physician prior to patient appointment. Understands the structure and function of supporting departments utilized by oncology program. The Office Coordinator I is also responsible for assisting with prior authorizations of patient treatments, procedures or imaging studies.

* Education

* Required: High school diploma or equivalent

* Experience

* Preferred: Previous work experience in health care

* Skills

* Working knowledge of word processing, English grammar, and correspondence format

* Possesses basic office computer skills

* Knowledge of current medical terminology

* Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment

* Able to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and use own initiative

* Licensure/Certification/Registration
