STARBASE, students participate in challenging activities in Science, Technology and Engineering (STEM). Students are immersed in a unique classroom experience for 5 days where all activities are student-centered, hands-on, encourage higher order thinking and incorporate STEM applications in the real world. Job Duties: 50% - Information Technology: •Ensures and maintains the local area network is up and operational at all times. •Tracks warranty certificates. •Facilitate IT training and maintain accountability of records. •Maintain the required certifications and keep up-to-date. •Performs computer hardware maintenance, software configuration and network maintenance. 45% - Administration: •Prepares and disseminates information of public interest. •Receives visitors and telephone calls. •Receives/prepares incoming/outgoing correspondence. •May assist in researching, writing, designing, or editing agency publications such as brochures, forms, manuals and charts. •Use the SPCC credit card and eVA procurement system to obtain goods and services for the STARBASE program. •Reconcile the SPCC credit card monthly. •Maintain the required procurement certification. 5% - Serve as Liaison: •Assist Program Director's coordination with local, state and federal officials. •Coordinates equipment purchases with VAFA and DMA personnel. Minimum Qualifications Ability to understand complex technical instructions and facilitate IT training; Ability to perform regular computer hardware maintenance and upkeep; Ability to perform network maintenance; Must be able to troubleshoot and resolve technology issues quickly and efficiently; Ability to maintain confidential and complex records; Working knowledge of departmental rules, regulations and procedures, and principles of office management; Ability to interpret agency rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Additional Considerations Prior experience as a help desk technician or Information Technology professional strongly preferred; Experience using WordPress; Experience in the education field; Experience procuring goods and services.
