6 Week Winter Extern Program

$18.00/hr

Overall, my externship experience was amazing! If I had the opportunity to apply again, I would! Everyone I got to work with was phenomenal and it was clear they truly cared to mentor and guide me through it all! As someone graduating in December and pursuing a post grad nursing career at Mercy, I would encourage every student to apply! Not only did this experience give me a look into the atmosphere of the hospital but I also gained so much confidence in myself and my skills. Overview:

During your six-week externship, you will have the opportunity to experience working with a preceptor. You may also choose to shadow in additional departments. Discover where your passion for nursing is leading you at Mercy!

Qualifications:

Education: Completed one year of RN clinicals at an accredited School of Nursing with anticipated March to August 2025 graduation

Certifications: BLS Certification required before assigned to care for patients independently

- Skills Checklist signed by Clinical Instructor

- Personal Statement. Should include answers to the following questions:

• Why did you choose nursing as a profession?
• What unit are you most interested in and/or tell us about the best clinical experience you've had so far and why (do not share the name of the facility)?
• What is your ideal work environment?

Application and Supporting Documents must be submitted by Monday, January 27th, 2024 in ONE EMAIL - please send documents only, no photos of documents will be accepted. Multiple emails and profiles without uploaded resume will be considered incomplete.

Interviews will be scheduled for Feburary 13, 2025

Program will begin May 27th and end on July 5th, 2025 (with opportunity to stay in a Nurse Tech role after the completion of the extern program)
