Job Type Part-timeDescriptionStarting August, 2024Green Ivy Schools is hiring Substitute Montessori Preschool teachers to work as on-call subs for the 2024-2025 school year.Battery Park Montessori located at 21 South End Avenue in Battery Park City, is New York's only trilingual Montessori school, offering Spanish and Mandarin language exposure. Our Montessori-trained teachers nurture each child's social, emotional, cognitive, academic, and physical needs, fostering their independence, natural curiosity, and problem-solving abilities. Partnered with Learning Beautiful's hands-on, tactile, and age-appropriate materials, students are introduced to STEM and coding without ever touching a computerABOUT YOU

• You are knowledgeable about the Montessori curriculum and philosophy and are able to successfully employ effective teaching practices. If you are not Montessori credentialed, you are willing and eager to learn about it.
• You enjoy collaborating with fellow teachers and are wiling to heed direction and feedback from them
• You are dedicated to internationalism and anti-bias teaching practices and maintain a positive school culture for everyone in the community
• You have exceptional communication skills with students and teachers and have a nurturing, supportive approach
• You are trustworthy flexible, and dependable

ROLE OF THE MONTESSORI PRESCHOOL TEACHER

• Create welcoming, functional, safe, attractive, de-cluttered, stimulating and physically comfortable learning environments
• May assist children during bathroom or hygiene-related activities
• Work with and follow the team's guidelines with regards to classroom schedule, activities, and norms
• Step in for teachers that are absent and follow the guidance of the other teachers in the classroom or of the Parent Liaison

Requirements

• Montessori teaching experience preferred
• Education: Bachelors Degree in Education or a related field (Masters preferred)
• Experience: Minimum of two (2) years teaching experience
• Fluent in English (able to successfully attend workshops, read professional information and work collaboratively in the language.)
• Legally authorized to work now and in the future in the United States
• Fully vaccinated and up-to-date on all Covid-19 vaccinations for which you are eligible

Salary Description $18 - $24 Hourly
