Job Description :
Rebecca School is a developmental program that utilizes the DIRFloortime method developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan. Rebecca School is opening a new location in Mount Vernon, NY for the 2024 school year and is seeking qualified 1:1 Paraprofessionals to work with students age 3 to 21 with neurodevelopmental delays in relating, communicating and thinking. As a One to One Support, you will join our classroom team and work in collaboration with Special Education teachers and other professionals to fulfill the individual curriculum and self-care needs of the students. Rebecca School North is an expansion of the Rebecca School in NYC after 18 successful years of serving students with neurodevelopment delays in relating and communicating. Have a great work/life balance while helping others. Hours of employment: 8:00 am-3:30 pm (M, TH, F) 8:00am-4:30pm (T, W) Salary Range: 34,000-40,000 based on 12 months and degree. RESPONSIBILITIES | WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Support assigned student with all facets of the school day and participation in classroom activities to the best of the student's abilities
  • Work closely with head teacher and teaching assistants to ensure implementation of assigned student's Individualized Treatment Plan
  • Assist student in the classroom and collaborate with team members and related service providers to support goal achievement
  • Implement DIRFloortime strategies and techniques during instruction and interactions
  • Assist students during participation in specials such as physical education, art, music, and community outings
  • Participate in weekly team, department and process group meetings
QUALIFICATIONS | WHAT YOU BRING
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with child, parent/guardian, interdisciplinary team members, and other personnel involved in child's educational program
  • Knowledge of neurodevelopmental delays exhibited by children and adolescents
  • Strong communication skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Experience with DIRFloortime (or open to learning about it)
