This is a supervisory position in Parking and Transit Services and is a public-facing contact for customer service.

This position is responsible for supervising, training, and supporting field staff and ambassador staff for the afternoon and evening shifts; ensuring consistent understanding, application, and enforcement of parking rules and regulations; and serving as a resource for these rules and regulations, as well as campus geography. Performs duties of absent staff to maintain continuity. Performs enforcement weekly to maintain knowledge base and familiarity.

This position assists in managing the event parking calendar for UNO campus events, setting instructional and directional signs and barriers as needed, and communicating with Public Safety regarding these events and set-ups; completes reports on parking lot usage, excessive unpaid fines, and vehicle immobilizations; handles escalated customer concerns in the field; monitors and maintains quality and accuracy of parking related signs and lot painting; operates department vehicles, monitors for maintenance and reports issues to arrange for repairs; communicates with internal university departments, external vendors, and the public.

Skills necessary to perform this job include literacy, computer experience, customer service skills, mechanical aptitude, and conflict resolution skills.

Job Duties

Responsibility Area: Supervision Duties:

Supervise, train, and support afternoon and evening shift field staff, both Parking Specialists and Booth Ambassadors.

* Perform duties of absent field staff to ensure enforcement continuity. Assist in staffing the CEC reserved parking booth when department is short-staffed or when staffing priorities change.

* Respond to field complaints and help resolve conflicts from the field.

* Provide real-time support to field staff to address acute situations and communicate with office staff, Field Operations Supervisor, Parking and Transit Manager, and Department of Public Safety as needed.

* Schedule and communicate parking event assignments for campus activities to field staff. Monitor event calendar and lot closure webpage for project and event status in determining equipment deployment and retrieval.

* Designate and coordinate reserved parking for special events by deploying signs and barriers.

* Analyze parking citation activity to determine immobilization or tow status.

* Supervise and coordinate vehicle immobilization (boot) procedure, both installation and removal.

* Supervise and coordinate the towing process with towing contractor.

* Monitor lot surveillance cameras to analyze and evaluate specific instances of possible parking violations and communicate these results with field staff.

* Review parking citations, handheld activity, and other reports daily with Field Operations Supervisor for accuracy, completeness, trends, and areas of improvement in field staff training.

* Supervise staff in the daily maintenance and operation of department vehicles, including cleanliness and functionality of vehicle and related equipment, inventory of related equipment and enforcement supplies, and related documentation.

* Supervise and assist field staff with lot striping to complete as required.

* Engage in active field parking enforcement for a minimum 5 hours per week to maintain knowledge base and familiarity to facilitate better training and process review

* Provide information about parking rules and regulations and campus geography to university guests, students, faculty, and staff

* Operate and refuel departmental vehicles to use license plate recognition cameras, computers, and software for enforcement

* Generate citations for parking violations

* Designate reserved parking for special events by deploying signs and barriers

* Coordinate vehicle immobilization procedure, both installation and removal

Percentage Of Time 35 Essential Function: Yes Responsibility Area: Resource Management Duties:

* Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot issues with computers, license plate recognition cameras and equipment, and app-based handheld devices. Work with external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve failures and to maintain equipment and software.

* Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot issues with parking database, university databases, reservation software, enforcement software and special event calendar software

* Maintain and clean parking kiosks

* Submit and monitor maintenance requests for Parking and Transit assets to UNO Facilities to ensure accurate and timely completion

* Collaborate and communicate with UNO Public Safety team to assist with parking lot equipment deployment

* Maintain inventory of lot management equipment, including cones, barricades, signs and sign holders, lot painting equipment and painting supplies, and related equipment

* Maintain and repair lot painting equipment, and work with external vendors for parts orders and complicated repairs

* Maintain daily inventory of enforcement equipment, including immobilization devices (boots)

* Monitors departmental vehicle maintenance schedule and works with Field Operations Supervisor to schedule maintenance and repairs

* Performs special projects as assigned by Parking and Transit Manager and Field Operations Supervisor, including lot usage counts and reports

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Required Education

High School Education or equivalent.

Required Experience

* Two (2) years of experience in customer service, databases, computer programs and/or devices.

* One (1) year supervisory experience.

Required License/Certification

Valid driver's license is required.

Associate degree or two (2) years of college in business or related field.

Preferred Experience

* Two (2) years of experience supervising multiple individuals.

* Background in safety, parking, security or law enforcement.
