This is an exciting opportunity for an Accountant with 3-5+ years' experience in the Manufacturing, CPG or Distribution industry to directly impact the future success of a company. This is a new team and this role will be a critical asset to our client while they're in the process of transforming their operational and technology processes and procedures and implementing LEAN Principles. The Role The mission of the Operations Financial Manager (OFM) is to drive consistent plant efficiency, improve the CI culture, and enhance plant profitability by accurately maintaining financial and production data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting solutions to improve plant performance. The Operations Financial Manager (OFM) is responsible for monitoring and maintaining all financial aspects of the manufacturing facility, including tracking production costs, inventory levels, analyzing variances, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, all while working closely with production teams to optimize operational efficiency and profitability. The OFM will be an integral position within the plant leadership team, supporting the plant manager and collaborating with production managers, working foremen, and other departments to gather data, report financial concerns, and develop solutions that address these issues. The ideal candidate will have a blend of financial expertise and understanding of production operations. Day to Day
  • Assist sales department with daily production schedule
  • Responsible for daily batches reconciliation
  • Ensure timely entries of batches into production database
  • Perform timely closures of completed batches
  • Update and maintain timely completion and distribution of Metrics report
  • Track, compile, and audit KPIs and operationally related data including but not limited to:
    • Direct supplies inventory
    • Quality hold inventory
    • Production and labor utilization
  • Conduct month-end reconciliation of all inventories (finished goods, direct supplies, quality holds...)
  • Conduct cycle or necessary inventory counts
  • Timely completion of annual budgeting
  • Review budget vs actual with plant managers on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Review/interpret financial results (P&L) with plant managers
  • Build new bills of materials when needed
  • Review costs and components for accuracy
  • Create and maintain an environment of continuous improvement
  • Assist AP department with any discrepancies in ordering and receiving goods
Requirements Minimum Requirements
  • Completed Bachelor's degree in accounting, cost accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in a finance or accounting department
  • 3-5 years of experience in a CPG, Manufacturing, or Distribution environment
  • Industry experience in food manufacturing is preferable and advantageous
  • Experience with automation and data-driven assessment tools is a plus
Required Experience
  • Practical application of financial and/or Accounting Methodologies
  • Knowledge of CI and Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies (preferable)
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Adept in Change Management and Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Strong Organizational and Multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
  • Attention to Detail and Accuracy
  • Works effectively with a team and as well as an individual
  • Able to prioritize time and consistently meet scheduled deadlines
