Job Overview:

The IAQ Operations Manager oversees and manages all aspects of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) operations, ensures compliance with industry standards and regulations, and implements strategies to improve air quality within commercial, industrial, or residential buildings. This role combines technical knowledge with operational management to support IAQ programs, promote health and safety, and optimize air quality systems. The IAQ Operations Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor, maintain, and improve air quality systems, ensuring a safe and healthy indoor environment for all building occupants.

Key Responsibilities:

IAQ Program Management:

Develop and oversee comprehensive indoor air quality programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Monitor air quality data, analyze trends, and prepare reports on IAQ performance.

  • Compliance & Regulations:
  • Ensure all IAQ-related activities are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, such as OSHA, EPA, and ASHRAE guidelines.
  • Stay up to date on changes in IAQ regulations and standards, ensuring the company remains compliant.
  • Team Leadership & Coordination:
  • Lead and supervise a team of IAQ technicians, engineers, and specialists, ensuring effective performance and adherence to operational protocols.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental efforts to address IAQ issues, collaborating with building management, maintenance, and health & safety teams.
  • System Monitoring & Maintenance:
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and optimization of HVAC systems, air filtration units, and other IAQ-related equipment.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments of air quality systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Training & Education:
  • Develop and implement training programs for staff on IAQ best practices and safety protocols.
  • Educate building occupants on the importance of IAQ and provide guidance on how to maintain a healthy indoor environment.
  • Vendor Management:
  • Manage relationships with external contractors, service providers, and vendors who support IAQ initiatives.
  • Evaluate and procure IAQ-related products, technologies, and services to enhance operations.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify potential IAQ hazards and propose mitigation strategies to reduce health risks for building occupants.
  • Respond to IAQ-related complaints or concerns from building tenants, and work to resolve issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of IAQ assessments, corrective actions, and compliance documentation.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management regarding IAQ performance, budget, and operational progress.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in managing IAQ operations, building systems, or environmental health and safety.
  • Experience with HVAC systems, air filtration, and air quality monitoring technologies.
  • Strong understanding of IAQ standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Skills:
  • Expertise in air quality assessment and monitoring techniques.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Proficiency in IAQ-related software and reporting tools.

Additional Requirements:

  • Certification in IAQ, such as a Certified Indoor Air Quality Professional (CIAQP), is a plus.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including site inspections and assessments.
  • Willingness to travel to various sites, if necessary.
