Job Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the manufacturing floor, ensuring efficient and effective production processes, maintaining high quality and safety standards, and managing operational staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

  • Supervise daily production and manufacturing, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement strategies for efficient use of materials, labor, and equipment to meet production targets.
  • Monitor and adjust production schedules as needed to meet deadlines and optimize workflow.

Labor Relations:

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with union representatives and ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Participate in union negotiations and discussions as required.

Quality and Safety:

  • Ensure that all products meet established quality standards and specifications.
  • Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, coach, and develop operational staff to meet performance goals and encourage continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to employees.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and ongoing improvement.

Financial Management:

  • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Report on key operational and financial metrics to local senior management.
  • Implement strategies to enhance efficiency and profitability.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead initiatives aimed at process improvement and productivity enhancement.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles and other methodologies to drive operational optimization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in an operations or manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.
  • Strong knowledge of operational processes, quality control, and safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in operations software and Microsoft Office Suite.
