So, what will you be doing?
As theOperations Manager you'll be responsible for overseeing the Operationspersonnel and manufacturing process of biomass. You will be working with your team to execute our mission of safelyproducing quality, renewable energy.
About the Role:
Some of your day-to-dayduties include:
- Daily safety walk to audit housekeeping andpaperwork with prompt feedback to supervisors and area managers
- Safety: Create a“Safety First” culture
- Enforce rule and policy compliance with positivereinforcement, counselling as needed, and timely disciplinary actions whenneeded
- Audit JSA's, POWRA's, Hot work, LOTO, andConfined space documentation
- Create quarterly goals for direct reports withclear objectives for safety, housekeeping, dust score, and environmentalcompliance
- Show no tolerance for bending/breaking of companypolicies and procedures for all employees with impartial application ofcoaching, training, and disciplinary processes
- Frequent reference to golden rules and policiesin discussions with employees
Operations: Manage the operations andmanufacturing process of biomass to achieve and exceed facility and companygoals and objectives
- Exhibit high expectations, rapid feedback, anddaily goals for operations to drive excellence
- Come to meetings with situational awareness andprepared plans to drive safety, quality, and productivity to highestpossible level
- Create quarterly operational and production goalsfor direct reports that support continuous improvement of operational teamand achievement of facility goals
- Support supervisors to manage time and attendancefor plant to proactively fill gaps, build bench strength, and provide fullcoverage for daily shifts
- Provide leadership for Area Managers for plannedmaintenance, problem solving, and debottlenecking of processes to optimizedaily on quality production.
- Hold Area Managers accountable to provide activeleadership in Safety, Quality, Cost Control, Productivity, andEnvironmental compliance.
- Exhibit active leadership across plant.Encourage, coach, and intercede as necessary to achieve plant goals.
- Insure 8D's are completed for safety andproduction incidents to support continuous improvement
Housekeeping:Implement housekeeping standards to minimize hazards and to eliminateOSHA recordable and lost time injuries
- Walk with Safety manager, Plant manager, and AreaManagers at least once per day to assess plant housekeeping and compliance.
- Give frequent and timely feedback to crews,supervisors, and individuals to improve plant housekeeping and dust score
- Ensure temps and outside services are properlyutilized to keep plant in best possible condition at least possiblecost
Personnel: Responsiblefor overall facility personnel including hiring, training, coaching, settingexpectations, insuring compliance to rules, procedures, and regulations,discipline, performance, and terminations if necessary.
- Lead the hiring process for all operationsemployees, and staff as appropriate
- Ensure temps and outside services are properlyutilized to keep plant in best possible condition at least possiblecost
- Develop training manuals, standard operatingprocedures, and Lock-Out Tag-Out documents
- Schedule, train and maintain training records forall operations employees
- Ensure that health and safety programs and plansare developed and implemented in accordance with all applicable regulatoryrequirements
- Ensure that the biomass is produced in compliancewith the manufacturing and quality specifications
- Communicate and support the philosophy of theContinuous Improvement Process
- Continuously encourage, seek, identify, andimplement the means and methods to improve plant productivity andefficiency without compromising product quality, safety orenvironmental
- Ensure that operations employees are informed andupdated on key business and organizational issues
Additional Responsibilities and Special Projectsas assigned by Plant Manager
Knowledge,Skills and Experience required:
- B.S. Degree preferred; 10+ years Operations orrelated with previous management experience preferred;
- Candidate must possess excellent communicationskills, both written and verbal;
- Knowledge of specific production process a plus
