Job Description :
American Prosthetic Components is looking for a hands-on leader who leads by example and works directly with their team. Leads from a quality first mentality with a belief in consistency as well as continuous improvement where applicable. Directs production, engineering, quality and safety. Creates shop floor schedules, manages facility maintenance and operation, and executes daily tasks in line with the production schedule. Daily tasks may include training, quality checks, run-rate checks, scrap reporting, inventory management, and mentoring of assistant supervisors.Benefits: Offer Medical, Dental, Vision on day 1, Retirement and other voluntary benefits begin after 90 days.
  • Coordinates production, distribution, warehousing, and daily shipments (OTD) in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by General Manager.
  • Develops plan for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production.
  • Takes a hands-on approach with the ability to recognize potential production/quality problems on the plant floor before they occur
  • Develop capacity strategies and implementation plans and programs to support sales plan
  • Continually develop and improve metrics that support our company objectives and requirements without adding bureaucracy
  • Support and assist in the development of the job planning process/schedules
  • Support and assist strategies and plans for facility capacity to meet growth
  • Support and assist facility and equipment maintenance programs
  • Support contract review requirements
  • Participate in annual planning and budget development process
  • Monitor all safety issues with the goal of identifying root cause and elimination of the risk
  • Fully versed in Document Control processes and procedures.
  • Applies total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department.
  • Creates, implements, updates and maintains work instructions, partnering with the Engineering and other departments.
  • Interprets engineering drawings/blueprints and confers with management or engineering departments to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Works with EUMDR representatives to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provides inspection activity for products throughout the production cycle.
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Proper and accurate utilization of measuring equipment: micrometers, calipers, optical comparator, height gage, indicators.
  • Processes non-conforming material, reports data.
  • Investigates and adjusts customer complaints (CAPA) regarding quality.
  • Reviews customer contracts (purchase orders, regulatory requirements, blueprints).
  • Leads in optimization of set-up cycle times and improvement of productivity standards by teaming with CNC machinists and set-up personnel.
  • Investigates, experiments, and implements processes to maximize productivity.
  • Maintains reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
  • Evaluates current processes, determines their effectiveness, identifies opportunities, and recommends strategies for improvement.
  • Selection and development of tools and fixtures for improvements.
  • Works with suppliers to ensure quality of all purchased parts for company use.
  • Creates and maintains an environment of continuous improvement by actively managing projects to improve overall quality.
  • Serves as project leader on project teams designated to resolve issues and implement solutions.
  • Mentors and trains operations staff on lean principles. Advises management on training plans and matrixes.
  • Proactive problem solves on the basis of statistical analysis of corrective actions.
  • Optimization layout for new product development projects in the plant.
  • Ensure all training is completed for all responsible employees and develop new training processes as needed
  • Provide good feedback and promote good communication
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in supervisory or management role in a manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC experience with lathes and mills
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Computer Skills
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should understand Microsoft Suite and Excel package knowledge and abilities
  • Working with an ERP system is not required it would be a plus.
