The preferred candidate will have relevant experience within the transportation industry.Regular attendance is an essential function of this position. Hours worked will be between 3:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m. with rotating weekends off. Operations Supervisors are expected to work on Saturdays of home Penn State Football games. Schedule is subject to change.Some pertinent responsibilities of the position are listed below:Maintains appropriate driver's license with endorsements, valid in the Commonwealth of PennsylvaniaSupervises day-to-day on the road operations of the public transit systemPlans and supervises transit system operators' work and performance; completes operator evaluations; communicates job expectations, including coaching and recommending discipline; conducts performance, investigative, and disciplinary meetings with operatorsEnsures compliance with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, government regulations, and union contract, including dress codeResponds to and investigates customer inquiries and complaints; communicates trends and issues and offers recommendations for solutions to observed patternsAssists with accidents/incidents, including any needed on-site assistance and support for operators and emergency personnel; completes initial investigations for collisions and workplace injuries for the operations divisionEnsures safe and efficient service to patrons, which may include shoveling bus stops, deploying gates and signs, monitoring bus loading, directing traffic, maintaining crowd control, and providing directions and assisting patrons with route questionsMaintains updated list of valid licenses and Department of Transportation physicals for bus operatorsPrepares assorted written documents to communicate with coworkers at all levelsMonitors processes to ensure safe working conditions and eliminates potential hazardsReacts to acute situations such as absenteeism, accidents, injuries, employee illness, mechanical breakdowns, and police requests, and helps to remedy samePosition requires possession of, or the ability to obtain, Class B CDL with passenger endorsement.
