Summary Description Oversee driver's performance, duties and responsibilities. Drivers certifications need to be wpdated and current. This individual would assist or manage the day-to-day fleet operations of their assigned Division. This includes all aspects, but not limited to drivers' operations, training, affiliates/internal performance and assisting Transportation Manager with daily operations. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Assist with all aspects of daily Operation, including:
- Create daily scheduling and coordination of transportation.
- Keep drivers training and certifications up to date.
- Conduct training for any certifications that are due to expire.
- Ensure that drivers have all necessary information for their next-day schedules.
- Prints the schedules the day before so they are ready in the morning.
- Assess the next day's resources and forecast potential problems.
- Determine if any trips need to be conducted by a partner.
- Re-arrange the schedule and drivers as needed to ensure proper coverage.
- Act as backup driver in the event drivers call out or are unavailable for coverage.
- Conduct drivers' quarterly meetings and Safety meetings.
- Fills in or assists the Trans. Manager as needed.
- Vehicles safety and maintenance inspections.
- Conduct / Monitor drivers' performance evaluations.
- To be completed annually or as needed due to disciplinary action.
- Frequent and Random field spot checks / Affiliates vehicle and Drivers.
- Conduct Accident / Injury investigations and reporting.
- Address and resolve drivers' personnel issues; Address disciplinary issues.
- Utilize the Discussion Log to document any disciplinary actions.
- Enforcement of Company's procedures and policies.
- Will provide verbal and written warnings.
- Interact closely with the senior center staff resolving concerns as they arise
- Works cooperatively and professionally with Center staff.
- Attend all required meetings in the absence of the Transportation Manager.
- Manage and maintain a fleet of lift vans, A.D.A accessible mini buses ambulatory vehicles.
- Data entry into a FileMaker based system,
- Act as back up coverage for the Transportation Manager.
Education & Training
- High school graduate or GED
- Supervisory training preferred
- Class B drivers' license preferred will train
- CPR/First Aid preferred, will train
- Must obtain in 60-days: Certified CPR Trainer
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience in Senior Care or related human services industry. 1 year experience with the elderly
- Extensive knowledge of San Diego and surrounding areas streets, neighborhoods and traffic patterns.
- Vehicle scheduling and dispatching a plus. Supervisory experience a plus.

- Must be computer literate and proficient with Word, Excel and database management software.
- Must have a proactive approach to unforeseen situations.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work weekends, Holidays and any shift as necessary. Work hours: 06:00 am -17:00 pm with varying shifts
- Might be required to drive vehicles as needed.
- Must be able to travel out of town with overnight stay when necessary.
Physical Requirements
- Be able to push 1501bs and lift 501bs minimum
- Position requires working in a seated position while operating computer, keyboard, mouse, phones and printers and filing of documents
- Position may require standing/walking for up to 4 hours
