The Operator 1 is responsible for operating a variety of machinery to fabricate railcar component parts to meet close and complex tolerances. Duties and Responsibilities. . Assembles and grinds products such as carbon and stainless steel, or aluminum, using grinders, tables or conveyor systems. Uses hand tools such as wrenches, electric tools, ratchets, saws, presses, drills and tape measures. Monitors output and proper operation of mechanical equipment. Adjusts parts to ensure quality requirements are met. Conducts regular inspections of parts produced through measurements. Reads drawings and follows production standards. Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained. Qualifications. The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.
