Summary
The Operator 2 operates advanced equipment and machinery to produce and move railcar parts and sub-assemblies, operates forklift and overhead cranes to move material.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
* Operates advanced equipment including but not limited to, Welding Machines, Plasma Cutting tools, Gouging Machines, Shears, Submerged Arc Seamers and CNC Plasma Tables
* Operates forklift and overhead cranes to move material into position to produce railcar parts and sub-assemblies
* Ensures that equipment is maintained and operating properly before beginning work
* Reads and comprehends blueprints or weld drawings and procedures
* Guides Operator 1, as needed, in various production activities
* Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
* 6+ months experience operating various types of manufacturing equipment and machinery
* Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and work instructions
* Ability to use a computer
* Ability to work in a team or independently
* Ability to obtain in-house forklift certification
Preferred Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalency test/GED
* 1+ years of experience in operating various types of manufacturing equipment and machinery

This position is in a production environment with exposure to heat, cold, noise, moving machinery and trip hazards where personal protective equipment such as head, eye, hearing, and foot protection, including composite toed safety shoes, are required.
This position may be exposed to welding, machining, forming, metal surface treatment, laser cutting, plasma cutting, and other metal working and assembly processes.
Additional PPE may be required as determined by the environment.
