The Public Access Services Office, part of the Division of Habitat and Species Conservation, is a leader in innovative best practices to provide safe, sustainable, quality wildlife experiences and conservation opportunities to the public. This position is responsible for construction administration for statewide projects on Florida's Wildlife Management Area system including (but not limited to) renovation and construction of boardwalks, buildings (residential, commercial and agricultural), bridges, roads, boating and dock facilities and entrance improvements. Applicant must be able to conduct site visits, pre-bid meetings, pre-construction meetings, construction progress meetings, substantial and final project completion inspections. Applicant must be able to read and understand all applicable permitting agencies approvals for projects throughout the State of Florida. Applicant needs to be able to read, understand, and mark-up project plans and specifications. Applicant will be the Project Manager for multiple projects working with FWC staff, consisting of a Landscape Architect, Civil Engineers, and the General Contractor. Candidate will also coordinate with area staff and external professionals who provide additional services such as archeology monitoring, surveying, architecture, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural and geotechnical engineering. Applicant must have good customer service skills including the ability to listen to our clients' needs, articulate those needs concisely and represent clients' interests through the planning, design and construction phases. Applicant must have excellent organizational skills and must be able to compile accurate field notes, prepare field reports and translate those documents into action in all phases of a project. Duties include all aspects of construction administration including bid requests, coordination with purchasing, development of task assignments for consultants, Purchase order and contract submittals. Applicant will need to coordinate with FWC staff, permitting officials and General Contractors throughout the construction phase. This position offers a pay rate depending on experience within the range of $23.00-$35.00 per hour with health benefits, based on 1,920 hours per fiscal year. Applicant must have the ability to travel 25% to 50% on average yearly. KSA's (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): Ability to oversee contractor work. Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications. Experience working with public land managers. Ability to manage multiple projects, to effectively organize and manage teams to develop work products. Demonstrated knowledge of, and extensive experience with standard construction techniques, building codes and related permitting, and supervision of construction contractors. Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Ability to read and review building plans. Knowledge of building codes, laws and regulatory requirements. State project management experience is helpful. Knowledge and experience of state bidding and contracting policies and procedures is a plus. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Geographic Information Systems is desirable. Minimum Qualifications: Prefer a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience in the field of building construction; OR A master's degree from an accredited college or university in one of the areas described above and three (3) years of experience in the field of building construction. Experience in the field of building construction (9+ years) will also meet the minimum qualifications. Possession of a valid Driver License. Florida licensure as a registered contractor is a bonus, but not a requirement.
