We are seeking an Optical Physicist with a strong background in electrical engineering to develop and integrate optoelectronic devices and systems. You will work on innovative projects involving lasers, fiber optics, sensors, and photonic circuits across telecommunications, defense, and medical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop optoelectronic devices (lasers, modulators, detectors) and integrated systems.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers for seamless optical-electrical integration.
- Develop and optimize laser systems (solid-state, fiber, semiconductor) for various applications.
- Design, test, and model integrated photonic circuits using simulation tools (COMSOL, Lumerical).
- Conduct prototyping, testing, and data analysis to evaluate system performance.
- Document results and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Master's in Optical Physics, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or related field.
- Strong experience in optoelectronics, optical system design, and laser technologies.
- Proficiency in simulation software (COMSOL, Lumerical, Zemax) and programming (Python, MATLAB, C++).
- Knowledge of electronic circuit design and signal processing.
- Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.).
Preferred Experience:
- Background in telecommunications, defense, or medical tech.
- Familiarity with quantum optics, fiber-optic networks, or microwave photonics.
- Experience with cleanroom fabrication and photonic devices.
Work Environment: Laboratory and office-based, with hands-on work and collaboration in cleanroom settings. Occasional travel for project and conference needs.
