Salary Range: $51,255.75 - $64,632.75Starting salary with Bachelor's degree: $53,530.75Starting salary with Bachelor's degree(night-shift): $58,080.75Job Type: Full-timeHours: 12-hour shifts: 6PM-6AM; 7 days in a two week period, including alternating weekends. Work Setting: In-personLocation: Azusa, CA.The Organ Case Manager (OCM) is primarily responsible for the allocation of organs, the coordination of recovery arrangements, and the recovery of organs for transplant and/or research. Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with OneLegacy Policies and Procedures, and all regulations as outlined in UNOS, FDA, AOPO, EBAA, AATB, and other applicable federal, state, and local laws.Duties & Responsibilities:Essential Job Functions:Organ Allocation:1.Coordinates activities for allocation and placement of local organs including but not limited to heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas, and intestine for transplant and/or to local, regional, and national centers.2.Maximizes the allocation of organs via timely organ offers, organ specific testing, courier and organ shipping logistics, recovery surgeon activation and timely and accurate verbal communication with transplant centers.3.Maintains competency in the use of all systems utilized in the electronic allocation of organs, including but not limited to Digital Donor and UNET.4.Demonstrates competency in the overall organ allocation process and can accurately allocate organs in the event of a UNET system outage.5. Recovery Coordination:• Arranges recovery surgeon transportation when necessary.• Dispatches appropriate recovery personnel on organ cases.• Provides detailed instructions to procurement staff.• Verifies documentation of organ recovery including but not limited to Date/Time of Death, anatomy, diagnostic testing results, etc.• Manages courier activity and confirms delivery of all local and import organs.6.Coordinates activities for allocation and placement of import kidneys. Provide guidance for imports of extra-renal organs when needed.7.Sets up any organ biopsy and reporting results to applicable Organ/Tissue/Research Centers.8.Maintains accurate, real-time documentation for all coordinated cases on Digital Donor, UNET, and other documentation sources assigned.9.Maintains real-time communication with Procurement Staff, Family Care Center Staff, Family Services, Clinical Resource Specialist, and Management/Administrator on Call (AOC).10.Consults and maintains real-time communication with the Manager/AOC on any unusual circumstances in organ placement and recovery of organs.11.Timely reports adverse lab values such as but not limited to positive cultures to all affected Organ/Tissue/Research Centers.12.Performs post organ recovery follow up such as but not limited to UNET feedback, potential transplant recipient (PTR), organ disposition.13.Maintains competency of organ perfusion device monitoring and adjustments as needed. Reports all perfusion device clinical data to all relevant parties as needed and appropriate.14.Discards organs as deemed unsuitable for transplant.15.Conducts accurate and detailed shift exchanges with oncoming staff to ensure continuity of organ allocation.16.Assists with staff training at the direction and oversight of management.Secondary Job Functions:Renal Pulsatile Perfusion:1.Maintains clinical competency of the aseptic preparation of kidneys including dissection and anatomy review and placement of cannulated and prepared kidneys on the perfusion device.2.Maintains competency of organ packaging per OTPN policy.Required Personal Protective Equipment1.Eye protection2.Face protection3.Gown4.Mask5.Non-sterile medical gloves6.Sterile medical gloves7.Protective shoe covers8.Head coverSkills and Abilities:1.Effective verbal and written communication skills2.Ability to organize and prioritize3.Ability to have personal initiative and work independently4.Interpersonal skills working with others in a collaborative and fast-paced environment5.Use judgement and problem-solving skills6.Knowledge of medical terminationPhysical Environment/Working Conditions:Location: Azusa, CA.Travel: May be required to travel by personal auto or air to meeting sites and other locations as needed or directed by leadership.Work Hours: Rotating shift schedule. Assigned days and/or shift can be changed according to donor activity and/or staffing needs. Must be available evenings, holidays, and weekends as required.Job Qualifications and Requirements:Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college/university, or equivalent training in an affiliated health field required combined with a 2-year Associates degree.Experience: Three (3) years' experience in organ donation field or an associated medical field preferred.Certification/License: OneLegacy requires employees to maintain a current California driver's license and current vehicle insurance.
