OSP Engineering ManagerResponsibilities:Will manage all fiber optic network expansion through either new OSP fiber optic plant construction, Dark fiber lease projects or Network acquisitions. Will analyzes, prepare cost estimates, budgets, develops schedules, secures material, and contracts OSP contractors for all OSP fiber optic projects. Will provide solutions, cost estimates, and schedules to both Wholesale and Enterprise Sales groups. Will accompany and provide support and construction details for both groups either in-person or on over the phone customer sales calls. Will manage OSP Engineering Department, Contract Engineering Firms, and OSP Construction Contractors. Will manage engineering responses to various requests from sources outside the company. Will manage all permits required to construct all types of Outside plant facilities. JOB DUTIES: Manages all fiber optic network expansion through either new OSP fiber optic plant construction, Dark fiber lease projects or Network acquisitions. Analyzes, prepares cost estimates, budgets, develops schedules, secures material, and contracts OSP contractors for all OSP fiber optic projects Leads the team and provides support, direction and assistance to the teams on all areas of their assigned duties. Facilitates process modifications to new and existing policies and procedures designed to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction. Delegates and prioritizes team resources to efficiently maintain staffing and resources as needed. Acts as an escalation point for OSP issues, resolutions, and outages from both external and internal sources. Assumes responsibility of existing or pending network builds during acquisitions. Develops solutions to reduce network expansion costs by jointly working with other Communications companies on joint construction projects. Develops team to maintain in-depth knowledge of OSP engineering and construction and related to GPC's fiber optic network. Supports and reviews work done by others ensuring that all applicable OSP standards are met. Ensures effective escalations occur to appropriate individuals, teams, and organizations in a timely manner to ensure efficient resolution and to minimize customer impact. Assists in preparing departmental budgets and identifies cost-saving opportunities. Facilitates meetings with the District Managers, Field Engineers, Contractors, State, County, City, and other utilities. Facilitates meetings with Transport Engineers, IP Engineers, CATV Engineers, OSP Engineer, and Central Office Engineers to address existing and future customer service needs. Provides solutions, cost estimates, and customer premise install schedules to both Wholesale and Enterprise Sales groups. Accompanies and provides support and construction details for both groups either in-person or over the phone on customer sales calls. Assists Sales in interpreting customer existing infrastructure and future needs. Utilizes Salesforce software for standard sales quotes. Utilizes project and construction management software. Identifies possible future Sales opportunities on existing or future fiber projects. Develops solutions with Network Engineers for customer needs. Leads the OSP team to consistently deliver a highly customer focused service to GPC Members and Customersto exceed their expectations both in technical resolution and customer service. Accompanies Sales when required on customer sales calls and follow-up meetings. Provides internal departments with up-to-date OSP projects and network layouts Performs personnel activities such as hiring, termination, promotion, training, evaluating, etc. for OSP Engineering Department, Contract Engineering Firms, and OSP Construction Contractors. Anticipates, initiates and performs hiring, training, promotion and termination. Evaluates Engineering and Construction personnel yearly requirements and retains outside Engineering resources and Construction Contractor resources when required. Ensures outside contractors have current MSA. Performs appraisals and submits to Human Resource Department at least 15 days prior to anniversary date. Provides employees the resources and opportunities for training and development. Creates and implements strategies for the continued professional development of teams in knowledge and skills. Effectively guides and directs people to accomplish objectives, including appropriate delegation of authority. Affects positively the performance of other employees, including assisting co-workers and working to accomplish job and company objectives. Develops a course of action and structure to accomplish objectives. Schedules (establish estimated construction start and complete dates) and supervises pre project planning meetings with District Managers and their employees to establish engineering design standards to be used on the project as well as special considerations that need to be addressed.
