Summary:As a Conduit Inspector you'll be overseeing contractor construction activities to ensure that procedures and materials comply with specifications. You'll also be measuring and recording distances and payable units, interpreting work prints, preparing detailed job reports for contractor billing and preparing sketches of completed work. Responsibilities:
- Oversees, inspects, and monitors contractual field work, which includes excavations, boring, placement of hand-holes, aerial strand and fiber cable installation, grounding, and monitoring restoration (sod, etc.) of work areas per Telecommunication standards
- Must be knowledgeable in outside plant construction. Line, splicing and substructure.
- Knowledge of State, Federal, OSHA, NEC codes is a must.
- Working knowledge of 3GIS, Google Earth or other industry standard geospatial applications. General computer application skills required (MSOffice applications, Adobe, GSuite, etc.).
- Advises contractors of violations and recommends adjustments to work operations
- Applies vast knowledge of OSP construction methods, practices, and safety guidelines.
- Inspecting and overseeing construction of manholes, environmental vaults, conduit formations and other types of underground telephone construction built by contractors.
- Meeting multiple tasks demands, as well as subject matter expertise for maintaining high priority requirements that meet quality, safety and regulatory standards for compliance.
- Observing work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to work prints and measuring and recording distances to verify the final location of installations.
- Providing and ensuring the pathway for new copper and fiber cables by monitoring outside contractors to machine or hand rod and clean ducts and place mule tape and/or inner duct to pull or jet copper and fiber cables.
- Interpreting work prints and specifications for contractors and correcting deviations from specified construction procedures to ensure compliance.
- Climbing ladders, working aloft, entering confined spaces to accomplish job tasks, and moving/lifting items generally not exceeding 60 lbs.
- Working evenings, weekends, holidays and unscheduled shifts as determined by the needs of the business.
You'll need to have:
- Valid state driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Related Associate Degree or 2 or more years of relevant work experience.
- Targeted Years of Experience: 5-7 years
