Job Summary:
PIC Group is actively seeking a highly skilled Outage Manager to lead and support a critical spring outage at a 123MW combined cycle cogeneration facility in Michigan. Reporting directly to the Project Manager, the Outage Manager will serve as the primary contract administrator, overseeing key activities such as borescope inspections and warranty management for GE gas turbines. This role requires extensive pre-planning involvement and close collaboration with the GE contract team to ensure strict adherence to the outage schedule. The Outage Manager is expected to act as a subject matter expert on GE large frame gas turbines, leveraging extensive experience in outage management to drive safety, efficiency, and project success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Attend contractor pre-shift safety meetings.
* Review of contractor permits (confined space, hot work, lift, working at heights)
* Prompt exercise of stop work authority, if warranted, and immediate notification to the Owner of any use of stop work authority exercised on work scope being monitored.
* Ensure contractors and vendors are utilizing proper PPE when performing work.
* Prompt notification to the Owner of any contractor issues or violations related to applicable Plant safety requirements.
* Assist the Owner in documenting any safety issues or violations related to contractor performance.
* Assure full compliance with the Owner's contractual technical requirements with the contractor.
* Oversee contractor compliance to project schedule requirements.
* Assist Owner with equipment testing and startup support.
* Prompt notifying the Owner of any issues or concerns that could jeopardize safety, work quality, and/or schedule.
* Provide an electronic daily shift report and daily safety audit report in a format provided by Owner.
* Ensure all contractor inspection/test/repair/status reports are completed and forwarded to the Owner electronically.
* Participate in all outage update meetings as scheduled.
* Coordinate any insulation and scaffold work with the appropriate contractors and other contract administrators as required.
* Attend shop visits to evaluate and advise on inspection results and repairs provided by the contractor as required.
Job Requirements:
* Extensive experience with onsite management of steam turbine/generator maintenance inspection outage work.
* Prior hands-on experience as an Outage Manager on projects.
* Strong understanding of accepted work practices when conducting an outage, ensuring protocol is followed.
* Firm command of acceptable safety practices and requirements when performing outage work, to include, lockout/tagout (LOTO).
* Proven capability of evaluating safety data sheets (SDS) for chemicals and products used by contractors during the outage.
* Excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally, with all levels of personnel internal as well as external to the project.
* Proficient with the use of MS Office programs, specifically Excel, MS Word and Outlook.
* Proficient with Microsoft Project or P6 required.
* Demonstrated experience with operating and maintaining GE7EA and/or GE7F equipment.
* Must be familiar with confined space entry projects.
* Prior experience in hot work projects.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to walk, reach, climb, stoop, and lift (up to 75 pounds)
* A willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and potential hazards.
* Must be able to perform extensive work at where heights are involved and be able to perform critical lifts.
* Wearing body harness for fall protection and confined space entry when needed.
Education / Experience:
* High School Diploma required.
* 10+ years' experience required with outage project management.
* 10+ years' experience with GE 7EA-GE7F gas turbine engines.
