Provides general guidance, leadership, communication, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting with all outbound job functions. ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions & Accountabilities
- Acts as a resource and trainer regarding current and developing processes and procedures within the shipping dock area.
- Works with the Department Coordinator in prioritizing and organizing the daily workflow and priorities.
- Ensures tools, equipment and materials within scope are operational, organized and available
- Sorts materials or shipments as needed and routes appropriately
- Carefully inspects freight for damage, verifies piece count, and stages freight for outbound carriers.
- Facilitate the loading of all pieces associated with the outbound shipments currently in process using the Bill of Lading (BOL) as a reference when needed
- Ensure that the carrier sign's and dates the BOL as verification that the freight has been tendered.
- Forward all shipping documentation to the designee area or person.
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and shipping dock neat & free of debris; maintaining clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules, & regulations.
- Maintains an ongoing understanding of current dock procedures.
- Prior to using equipment, performs operational and safety check using the Inspection checklist for man-up, sit-down and reach trucks (FM01634).
- Encourages and perpetuates open communication as well as a team atmosphere throughout the department.
- Provides feedback and input to coordinator/management as necessary regarding procedures & safety concerns.
- Provides feedback to facility maintenance on equipment issues as necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned by the coordinator or distribution supervisor.
- Ensure proper adherence to carrier signs in and our procedure
- Responsible for obtaining all proper signatures for all shipping documentation
- Responsible for communicating to leadership that all shipments have been completed and physically left the building on a nightly basis

- Works scheduled holidays as required in order to maintain service levels for customers.
- As business needs dictates, works extended hours to complete daily department goals or tasks to mandatory Saturdays.
- Works scheduled hours and is ready to work at scheduled start times, notifies Supervisor prior to absence or tardiness in accordance with company policy.
- Immediately informs Coordinator/Supervisor/Manager of safety, sanitation, and equipment malfunctions and concerns regarding quality issues.
