  • Location: University of Virginia Healthcare, Charlottesville, VA.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Outpatient Pediatric RD (FT) to join our Nutrition Team in an acute care medical center in Charlottesville, VA.

Our RDNs are a fundamental part of our NICU, PICU, pediatric inpatient and over 15 pediatric outpatient clinics. This pediatric RD will be skilled in providing nutrition assessment and medical nutrition therapy to the pediatric patient, and will communicate with appropriate provider teams regarding intervention, education and follow up of patients. This full time 40 hour per week position will join our pediatric team of 17 RDs, 12 hours per week will be in the Developmental Pediatric Clinic, 4 hours per week in the International Family Medicine clinic and 24 hours week in pediatric home health. Obtaining CNSC (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician) or similar certification is strongly recommended within two years of hire. The outpatient pediatric nutrition support role at the UVA home health agency (Continuum) includes coordinating home nutrition support and/or oral intake with monitoring of home enteral nutrition orders, formula recipes, and communication with families and outside providers as needed. This role does not require home visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides medical nutrition therapy including nutrition assessment, diet modification, nutrition education, and intervention for the patient population
  • Follows all guidelines as outlined within the Company Diet Manual and the Clinical Nutrition Policies & Procedures Manual
  • Complies with all regulatory standards to include federal, state, and accrediting agencies while adhering to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies
  • Trains and mentors patient services staff and interns as applicable
  • Participates in patient satisfaction programs, departmental meetings, and facility wide Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement programs

Qualifications:

  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
  • Licensed by the State Dietetics Licensing/Credentialing Board, in states where required
  • One (1) year of hospital experience, preferred
  • Possess the necessary skills to effectively utilize Microsoft office applications, electronic medical record & diet office systems, and nutrient analysis programming
