Summary of Job Description: Incumbent is responsible for encouraging interest and understanding of the Mohegan Tribe's traditional knowledge, stories, and skills for both tribal members and non-tribal audiences through the development and implementation of new and current cultural programs, events, and activities. Responsible for research, evaluation, and teaching of programs. Additionally, responsible for developing and overseeing the Tribe's Outreach Program. Also participates in and assists with coordination of other various Cultural and Community functions and events such as the Socials, Wigwam Festival, Cultural Week, etc. Minimum Requirements:
- Knowledge of Mohegan and local native history
- Proven knowledge of traditional native stories and skills
- Ability and interest to be trained in the Mohegan language
- Demonstrated ability to speak publicly in front of both small and large audiences
- Demonstrated ability in developing educational and program materials for all ages
- Demonstrated ability in working with all age groups including Mohegan Elders and Youth
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Demonstrated ability in working independently, setting priorities, and organizing work
- Demonstrated ability in working collaboratively and organizing work
- Demonstrated interpersonal and problem-solving skills

- Bachelor's degree in Native American Studies, Anthropology, Education, or related field and knowledge of native traditional skills such as dance, music, regalia, storytelling, wood-crafting, leatherworking, etc.
~OR~
- High School Diploma and four (4) years' relevant experience in native traditional skills and arts such as dance, music, regalia, storytelling, wood-crafting, leatherworking, etc.
~AND~
- Two (2) years' experience in planning, developing, and implementing interactive events and programs for various age groups and sizes
- Experience researching and preparing written reports and presentations
- Experience teaching or delivering oral presentations

- Successful candidate must pass the background check and continue to be eligible for employment in accordance with The Mohegan Tribe's Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Protection Policy
- USA Archery Instructor Level 1 Certification (will train)
- First Aid and CPR certifications required (will train)
- Ability to lift or move up to 30 pounds, pushing/pulling, kneeling, climbing, crouching, and reaching.
- Ability to work in adverse outdoor conditions such as extreme heat and wetness
- Ability to operate a canoe and kayak and must be confident with ability to work on or near bodies of water
- Must be able to work in a dynamic environment, managing competing priorities and overseeing multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail
- Must be able to maintain a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license from state of residence
- Must be a member of the Mohegan Tribe
