Job PurposeThe Residence Inn/ SpringHill Suites by Marriott Greenville Downtown seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Engineer/Security Associate. The purpose of the Engineer/Security Associate is to ensure the overall success of the hotel by meeting or exceeding the guest's expectations for the safety and security of the hotel. The Engineer/Security Associate must maintain a safe and working environment throughout the hotel by providing an attractive, clean, safe, and well-maintained property. Essential Job Functions
- Meets and exceeds customer and team member expectations by providing service and teamwork, assisting co-workers as needed.
- Communicates effectively with customers, co-workers, and managers.
- Keeps sidewalk steps and paths clear of snow and ice in the winter.
- Demonstrates familiarity with the hotel's life safety systems and takes corrective action on any maintenance or operating problems that affect the security or operating condition of the hotel.
- Reports any hazards or injuries in the department and hotel.
- Minimizes safety hazards by following all safety rules and procedures.
- Continually patrols buildings and grounds. Examines doors to determine that they are secure.
- Warns violators of rule infractions.
- Observes equipment and machinery, reports tampering or misuse, and records unusual occurrences.
- Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
- Writes clear and concise accident reports.
- Make safety inspections of the entire property and report safety or policy violations to the manager.
- Effectively handle non-guests and trespassers without interrupting the orderly flow of the business by treating all trespassers with dignity and respect when asking for their cooperation.
- Enforce Security Operating procedures, including but not limited to: No solicitation rule, Associate parking, and all other Security Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct Security foot patrols, secure building and hotel equipment, patrol parking areas, and respond to Security calls, disturbances, guest problems, and emergency situations.
- Be familiar with all operations of the guest room security systems.
- Be well-versed in the property alarm system as well as the fire alarm system/fire control room.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
- Ability to work under pressure situations and exercise good judgment.
- Perform maintenance activities in the hotel, such as plunging toilets, changing guest door batteries, reprograming locks, troubleshoot TV issues, as well as performing small HVAC troubleshooting methods.
- Fills out daily required paperwork fully and correctly.
- Completes Departmental, Auro Hotels, and Brand standards training as assigned.
- Maintains a professional, clean, and neat appearance at all times.
