We are looking for an individual to join our team as a Pack Tech & Maintenance Lead at our Hillsboro, ND factory. This position is assigned to the day shift and is accountable for the supervision and oversight of the Packaging Tech Program as well as the Packaging/Warehouse maintenance team. The primary responsibilities are to provide administrative, technical, and supervisory expertise to support the overall operations in the Packaging/Warehouse department.
The principal accountabilities of this position include, but is not limited to:
* Lead and promote a positive work culture through Company Values of Safety, Integrity, Quality, Teamwork, and Accountability
* Lead the implementation of the Packaging Tech Program for their facility to ensure employees are making effective progression through the training program.
* Lead the Packaging/Warehouse maintenance staff in the implementation of maintenance excellence programs as well as direct supervision of the maintenance team's daily work activities.
* Fill in for Packaging/Warehouse Assistant Supervisors as needed to cover for absences.
* Other duties as assigned.
PACKAGING TECH PROGRAM KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
* Leads the on-boarding process for new-hires related to the Packaging Tech Program
* Creates structures for tracking new-hire and grandfathered employees progress in the Corporate Training Departments tracking system
* Ensures documentation is properly completed for each module, and that employees understand the Packaging Tech Program
* Monitors progress for employees in the Packaging Tech Program, developing individual plans for their training and advancement
* Works in collaboration with the Corporate Training Department to coordinate and schedule courses needed for advancement.
* Prepares presentations to upper management reporting on status of the Packaging Tech Program at plant.
MAINTENANCE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
* Directs the day-to-day inspection, maintenance and repair activities of assigned maintenance employees as applied to machinery and equipment and for installation of maintenance and capital projects
* Monitors work practices and equipment operation for inefficiencies, downtime, and maintenance issues and initiates appropriate remedial measures
* Coordinates packaging line and bulk storage and loading equipment maintenance activities (including sugar packaging lines, bulk sugar loading, product warehouse, maintenance shop, rail yard, and rolling stock equipment)
* Assists Packaging/Warehouse Maintenance Superintendent with project budgets and executing Maintenance Excellence strategies
* Reviews and approves union maintenance employee time while monitoring overtime and attendance issues and responding within defined guidelines
* Schedules staff including overtime and short-staffed situations
OPERATIONS KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:
* Fills in, as needed to cover for absences, performing all duties of Packaging/Warehouse Assistant Supervisors
* Supervises the completion of production orders, goals and inventory consistent with weekly, monthly, and annual targets
* Supervises the quality, storage, and curing of production sugars in storage bins and determines source for bulk loading and packaging
* Supervises the bulk loading of sugar and pellets, as well as the packaging of sugar
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
* Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
* Ability to troubleshoot equipment operations and product quality issues
* Ability to interpret technical manuals, drawings, and procedures to troubleshoot and optimize equipment operations
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
To be successful in this position requires 2-5 years of prior supervisory experience in a process manufacturing environment and a background in high-speed packaging line operations, bulk storage, and packaging is desirable. Knowledge in a technical field such as engineering, electronic controls, or maintenance is desired.
The incumbent acquires a thorough technical understanding of the location and operation of all warehousing and packaging equipment including auxiliary systems. Additionally, a thorough understanding of the safety issues and safe operation of all equipment and facilities must be achieved.
Strong written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills in dealing with all levels of employees as well as marketing companies is essential. The incumbent must understand and be able to effectively apply food safety, quality assurance and safety regulations. The incumbent must possess a valid drivers' license.
