The company has 26 operating mines and processing facilities and two additional exploration stage properties across the United States and is headquartered in Katy, Texas.The primary role of the packaging operator is to work on the line ensuring each bag gets properly sealed, stacked on pallet and shrink wrapped. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operator will perform a pre-shift inspection of packaging line including machines.
- Note any defects found during pre-shift/area inspections. Give report to shift lead person.
- Write fault reports based on pre-shift/area inspection reports. Give report to shift lead person.
- Operate robot.
- Operate wrapper at both warehouses.
- Operate Parson's line.
- Operate bag valve machine.
- Operate automatic palletizer.
- Monitor the packaging line to ensure there are no jams or equipment failure.
- Remove broken and light weight bags.
- Dump broken bags and refeed product.
- Stacks or re-stacks 10, 25 and 50 pound bags on pallets as required.
- Replenish packaging materials such as stretch wrap, labels, etc.
- General plant/warehouse clean-up, including but not limited to, sweeping with push broom, cleaning in and around the stretch wrap machine and warehouse floors, etc.
- Operate propane powered floor sweeper in warehouse as needed.
- Pick up trash, empty trash cans and containers.
- Must know the locations of all first aid kits, emergency eye wash stations, ear plugs, and safety harnesses.
- Report any problems to immediate lead person/supervisor.
- In addition to the above, tasks and projects may be added on a temporary or permanent basis as deemed necessary by management.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
- High School or GED.
- Job Skills: Must complete 24 hours of new miner safety training and receive refresher course every year.
- Shipping/warehouse experience preferred.
- Must be task trained by approved trainer prior to operating any equipment or machinery.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Willing to work in a hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environment.
- Adhere to safety rules and regulations.
- Willing to work all areas of the Packaging Department when needed.
- Work as part of a team.
- Willing to work any shift and weekends as assigned.
