We are committed to maintaining our Core Values of INTEGRITY, QUALITY, CREATIVITY, CARING, and COLLABORATION in pursuit of achieving this goal.SUMMARY Performs all duties relevant to Packaging Operations to ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements in accordance with established company policies and procedures while maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, and productivity. Ensures packaged goods are properly filled, sealed, labelled, baled, palletized and stretched wrapped in accordance with customer and/or BSM Co. standards. Performs other duties (such as but not limited to: performing metal detector checks, test weighing packed bags, inspecting pallets and raw materials prior to use, cleaning machinery and physical plant, accurately completing documentation, etc.) as assigned to aid in efficient operation of the department. Safely operates machinery, industrial forklift, Bobcat, or yard tractor as required to support Packaging Operations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Perform all work safely and in accordance with all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards and Bay State Milling's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Keeps work areas clean to insure a sanitary and safe environment
  • Operate a forklift, Bobcat, & yard tractor as needed in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the optimum performance for the Packing and Warehousing Department
  • Preparing and checking all raw materials (empty bags, films, pallets, labels, etc.) prior loading the packaging machine magazines
  • Makes necessary changes to control parameters and mechanical adjustments to packing machinery to accommodate bag size changes, labeling requirements, type of pallets and slip sheets, control of bag weights, presentation of bales, pallets and stretch wrap to ensure proper and efficient machinery operation
  • Operates packaging machinery through HMIs, local digital displays, switches and indicating lights
  • Ensures all final packaged goods are properly:
    • Sealed
    • Labeled, and
    • Have sufficient weight
  • Performs metal detector checks in accordance with the HACCP Program
  • Keeps accurate records
  • Performs minor maintenance on packaging machinery
  • Keeps supervision informed of problems and progress of packing demands
  • Hand stacks product as required
  • Performs daily sanitation duties and assigned tasks as specified in the master cleaning schedule
  • All other task assigned by supervision

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Need to have good computer, math, writing, and reading skills.
  • Basic mechanical ability
  • Employee must have the ability to become certified in the operation of Packaging and Warehouse Department equipment such as but not limited to; packaging machinery, forklifts, Bobcat, and yard tractor
  • LANGUAGE SKILLSEmployee must have the ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend instructions and documentation in the English Language. MATHEMATICAL SKILLSEmployee must have the ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, and proportions in all units of measure used in practical situations. REASONING ABILITYEmployee must have the ability to:

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSSuccessful completion of forklift training, written exam and driving test. As a result any employee has a right to put product on hold if they have a concern. At the plant level, only the Quality Assurance Manager and General Manager have the authority to release product on hold.
