Michigan Sugar Company has an immediate full-time opportunity for a Warehouse Manager, located at the Croswell Factory, Croswell, MI.Job Summary:The Packaging and Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing dry sugar handling, packaging, warehousing and shipping operations efficiently to minimize costs and maximize productivity.
Primary Responsibilities: - Supervise and ensure proper staffing of employees in packaging, warehousing and shipping operations.
- Lead improvement efforts.
- Provide for training of employees in the following areas in job procedures, GMP/Food Safety and Occupational Safety.
- Handle employee complaints, grievances and discipline.
- Manage the maintenance of equipment and facilities of the sugar warehouse and silos.
- Enforce Michigan Sugar safety policies and MIOSHA regulations.
- Enforce Michigan Sugar personnel policies, the collective bargaining agreement and comply with all labor laws.
- Ensure sugar handling, packaging, warehousing and shipping operations are in compliance with 21CFR 110 Current Good Manufacturing Practices in Manufacturing, Packing, or Holding Human Food. Enforce Michigan Sugar GMP policies.
- Ensure all required records under the Establishment and Maintenance of Records section of the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002 are maintained as it relates to immediate previous source and immediate subsequent recipient of food.
- Provide for food safety training to all Sugar Warehouse employees annually and to new employees upon hire.
- Support the Food Safety Committee as a member. Conduct monthly self-inspections according the MSC Sanitation Self Inspection Program.
- Implement the HACCP program. Ensure screens, magnets and metal detectors are being monitored according to the HACCP plan and corrective action procedures are carried-out.
- Direct the sanitation and cleaning program in and around the sugar warehouse. Maintain a Master Cleaning Schedule to direct and document sanitation operations. Maintain written cleaning procedures.
- Ensure employees are following good house keeping practices.
- Ensure the pest control program is in compliance with Michigan Sugar and AIB standards in and around the sugar warehouse.
- Respond to customer complaints in the area of package quality. Determine root causes, implement and document corrective actions.
- Conduct and document mock recalls every six months. Correct any deficiencies.
- Ensure COA's are provided with shipments when required.
- Ensure shipping vehicles picking up sugar are inspected and documented.
- Ensure deliveries of incoming ingredients and packaging materials are inspected and documented.
- Carry-out segregation procedures for non-conforming products.
- Ensure storage practices are in compliance with AIB standards. An 18 perimeter of space must be provided between stored products and walls.
- Direct stock rotation to avoid excessive age of product and materials.
- Provide for the segregation of food grade and non-food grade lubricants and segregated storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Administer glass and brittle plastic program in and around the sugar warehouse. Arrange for periodic documented audits of all essential glass and brittle plastic.
- Conduct annual locker inspection.
- Management and development of supervision and leadership through training, coaching and evaluations.
Position Qualifications: - Bachelors degree in manufacturing or management related field or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of experience preferred in manufacturing, production or packaging and warehousing operations.
- 2 years of prior supervisory experience.
- Commitment to achieve and promote a high level of safety awareness.
- Computer experience with the knowledge of Microsoft office, PeopleSoft, and Rapid software or similar.
- Experience working with collective bargaining agreement and grievance handling process preferred.
