Job Description :
Production - Packer
  • Responsible for packaging finished bags into cartons and trays.
  • Responsible for checking the packaging quality (weight, seals, expiration date code, label description) ensuring the item meets all required specifications before final packaging.
  • Responsible for sorting and return of overflow products in both downstairs and upstairs packaging area.
  • Able to maintain product flow to scales by manually feeding overflow products into packaging lines.
  • Able to manually carry up to 50 lbs. of bagged product from downstairs to upstairs packaging overflow area.
  • Able to perform sanitation from tip track rooms in processing area to the end of the packaging lines in the packaging area.
  • Able to assist in other areas and departments when necessary for support.
  • Responsible for attending and participating in assigned training sessions related to safety, GMPs, SOPs, HACCP and SQF; applying and demonstrating obtained knowledge and following all procedures and policies related to food safety.
  • Responsible for cleaning production area and all equipment by following specific cleaning procedure by using approved cleaning agents.
  • Responsible for keeping work area safe and clean.
  • Adheres to all safety guidelines for job performed.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned as needed.
  • Complies with all Plant, State and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations.
  • Understands applicable SQF requirements.
Other & Miscellaneous:
  • Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual; capable of learning multiple jobs while maintaining a high standard of work ethic.
  • Ability to identify and analyze issues that take place in the packaging area and report them to the Packaging Machine Operators, Lead, or Shift Manager.
  • Desire to be a hands-on, on-the-floor oriented with ability to adjust pace when needed.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Computer skills: Proficient with Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Qualified/Pre-qualified Packer by the company qualification process preferred.
