The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Associate or Full Professor positions in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of pain management. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. ABA certification in anesthesiology or status as a candidate in the examination system along with ability to obtain a Pennsylvania license are required. Rank will be commensurate with experience.Teaching responsibilities may include the instruction of medical students and residents rotating through the operating rooms and wards of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) as well as participation in the didactic series of the department.Clinical responsibilities may include the provision of pain management and clinical anesthesia at HUP and PPMC.Research or scholarship responsibilities may include publishing peer-reviewed publications and presenting your work at scientific meetings and other venues. Securing grants is required on the tenure track and encouraged on the clinician educator track. The strongest candidates for this position will have prior peer-reviewed publications.Both the non-tenure clinician educator track (clinician scholars) and the tenure track involve a substantial commitment to research, including investigator-initiated and collaborative research.
