Painter & Glazier Maintanance - General Dynamics Land Systems : Job Details

Job Description **Must have Journeyman's Card in the Trade or minimum 4 years of documented experience. Job Description Perform all rough and finish painting on structures, machinery and equipment. Prepare surfaces for painting by removing old paint or other foreign matter; scrape, fill and putty and apply paint by brushing, rolling or spraying. Mix and blend pigments, vehicles, driers, plasticisers , solvents and extenders as required for the job at hand. Work from ladders scaffolds or swing stages when necessary. This classification is interchangeable with work of a Glazier. Cut, install and replace glass in windows, doors, and skylights. May also be required to handle/manage hazardous waste from time to time. Position Requirements Must be U.S. Citizen. Must be able to successfully complete the pre-employment process including drug screen and background check. Must obtain Department of Army Police unescorted access. Must have high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Must satisfy skills test- including vision, audio, respirator clearance, physical. Working Conditions & Environment Ability to work in production environment, including: Lifting and handling (pushing, pulling) various parts - must be able to lift greater than 40 #. Must be able, willing and capable of working aloft. Cannot be afraid of heights. Wearing personal protective equipment/clothing, including a respirator. Climbing ladders and stairs. Climbing onto equipment. Potential for walking and standing on uneven surfaces. Potential for working in both overhead and laying prone positions. Bending, kneeling, standing, stooping, twisting. Working in inclement weather including heat and cold. Working in areas with dust and fumes, oils and mists, and in areas with a high noise volume. Potential for working in confined spaces. Overtime and off-shift work may be required.
