Job Description :
Central City Concern is an innovative nonprofit agency providing comprehensive services to single adults and families in the Portland metro area who are impacted by homelessness, poverty and addictions. We hire people that are skilled and passionate to meet our mission to end homelessness through outcome-based strategies which support personal and community transformation. Position performs a variety of painting services for both the interior and exterior of commercial, institutional and residential buildings. Position works closely with crew leader or lead painter to gain required techniques and 1000+ painting hours necessary for apprenticeship application. Locations: Various locations throughout the Portland Metro Area Seniority Bid Close: 12/09/2024 Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm (40hrs/week) Hourly wage: $20.55/hr MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or working toward.
  • Demonstrate proper painting techniques.
  • Minimum of six months previous work experience. Prefer one year experience.
  • Must be willing to work on scaffolding or lifts.
  • Ability to become lead-certified.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check. Must have the ability to work in all C.C.C. Housing buildings and outside locations.
  • Ability to adhere to Central City Concern's drug-free workplace which encourages a safe, healthy and productive work environment and strictly complies with the Drug-Free Work Place Act of 1988. An employee shall not, in the workplace, unlawfully manufacture, distribute, dispense, possess or use a controlled substance or alcohol.
  • Must generally have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift heavy objects and climb stairs, with reasonable or no accommodation.
  • This position requires that you drive Central City Concern vehicles in the course of employment.
  • Must possess a current drivers license, pass a DMV background check and be designated an acceptable driver as outlined in Central City Concern's Fleet Safety Policy. Must pass an initial driver's training and then pass an annual recertification training.
  • Will be required to carry a cell phone for work use. Cell phone to be provided by Central City Concern.
  • Must adhere to agency's nondiscrimination policies.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, political affiliations, cultural backgrounds, life-styles, and sexual orientations and treat each individual with respect and dignity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Basic knowledge of pest control practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Cleaning and preparing surfaces before painting, including taping & sanding.
  • Use of sprayers, brushes, rollers, ladders, scaffolds, paint, and other painting equipment
  • Proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment and products including washing brushes and rollers.
  • Proper safety policies and procedures (MSDS)
  • Job site cleanup, including floors, windows, removing tape, and restoring the facility
  • Must fulfill all tasks required to complete a painting contract, including drop clothes, priming, taping, scraping, painting and detailing.
  • Differentiation of various paints including oil and latex.
  • Adhere to all state and federal privacy and security regulations applicable to the program, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. This includes immediately reporting any breach of protected health information or personal identification information of any person receiving CCC services by CCC or an outside provider to the CCC Compliance Department, as well as to your supervisor or their designee.
  • Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform pest control with treatments, follow-up cleaning, and required documentation as needed to complete painting services.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to interact successfully and courteously with a variety of people.
  • Must be able to apply work place and job site safety, experience in construction safety required.
  • Demonstrate ability to safely operate all equipment and supplies used by the department.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Physical ability to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks on time.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Ability to learn and apply training and instruction.
