The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.Position Summary Information Job Description Summary Prepare and paint various interior and exterior surfaces. Repair and install drywall and plaster with matching colors and textures. Position duties: 05% office, 95% field.Responsibilities
- Perform all aspects of the painting trade in a professional manner. This includes touch-ups, patching, and full-room painting.
- Perform drywall and plaster repair on interior walls and ceilings as well as exterior surfaces at all times matching the colors and textures of the existing surfaces.
- Assist with rain leak emergencies, including roof and wall patching, sandbag filling, and placement.
- Assist the senior painter in maintaining up-to-date material and equipment inventories.
- Assist other trades as requested or situation requires.
- Perform graffiti removal from walls, signs, walkways, etc.
Required Qualifications
- Journey level knowledge and experience in all aspects of painting. This includes surface preparation, primers, color mix and application.
- Journey level knowledge and experience using paint sprayers, water blasters and various other painting tools and equipment.
- Ability to work in a variety of physical environments including on ladders, man-lifts, etc. with heights up to 30 feet.
- Ability to maintain a clean safe area at all work locations including field locations, the shop and the break room.
- Knowledge of safe driving practices as defined by the California DMV and University policies.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to safe working practice as defined by industry and regulatory standards.
- Ability to read, write and speak English in order to communicate with all levels of campus community and business contacts.
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
Desired QualificationsSpecial Instructions to Applicants Valid California Driver's license and clear, unrestricted DMV record; a DMV report will be required prior to and periodically during employment. Alternate/extended shifts may be periodically required for events support or work scheduling conflicts. Participation in emergency response rotation as assigned.
