POSITION: Para Educator- Level I Multi Language Learner Support REPORTS TO: Building Principal DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Provide small group instruction to at-risk students. Supervise students during recess and lunch times.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma
- Associate of Arts Degree, 2 years of college credits or Para Educator Praxis
- Spanish Speaking preferred
ESSENTIALS FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary and without notice. Depending upon individuals assignments, the office aide will perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
Ability to maintain a student centered, organized positive climate Ability to read, write and communicate effectively Communicate and respond effectively and in a friendly, professional manner with students, parents, community members, and school personnel. Ability to accept responsibility and take direction Work collaboratively and collegially. Comply with district rules and regulations. Conduct all work in a safe manner as specified by district rules. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Ability to plan, instruct, and supervise elementary age students Ability to work one-on-one or in a small group with highly at-risk middle/high school students. Ability to provide support, assistance and give specific instruction under the direction of a certified LAP Director. Skilled at record keeping and computers. STATE/DISTRICT MANDATED REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED card or ability to attain one
- Fingerprinting (paid by employee)
- Proof of Immunization (if born 1-1-57 or later)
- I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigration Reform Act
- HIV/HBV Training (district provided)
- Sexual Harassment Training (district provided)
