- High School diploma or equivalent, and an Associates Degree, or 72-hours of college coursework or Instructional Assistant Certificate (Work Keys, Praxis, Paraeducator Assessment-title I) are required to perform the responsibilities of the position.
- MANDT, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or equivalent or willing to obtain (district provided) within 6 months of employment
- Participate in and meet expectation of the Estacada School District's paraeducator training programs
- Working knowledge of the basic elements of the teaching processes, particularly as they relate to teaching strategies for students supported by special education.
- Willingness and capacity to work with students who may be physically impaired, have learning challenges, including social/emotional lagging skills.
- Demonstrate a growth mindset and desire to learn and apply new skills through professional development, collaboration and working with other dedicated professional educators.
- Must have a positive, student first, 'can do' attitude.
- High level of expertise with technology used to perform a variety of tasks.
- Must pass Fingerprint-based Criminal Background check that will be required at employee's expense upon offer of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:May include but are not limited to, the following:
- Demonstrated ability and experience in a school or clinical environment or other setting that demonstrates the following specialized skills when working with students experiencing a wide variety of needs.
- Proven ability/experience in working effectively with students who may have physical and cognitive disabilities and/or experiencing lagging skills in social/emotional regulation.
- Have training or willing to engage in training (MANDT or equivalent) that may be require you to engage physically with children experiencing dysregulation.
- Demonstrated ability to teach practical, meaningful, relevant academic and behavioral skills while remaining nurturing and encouraging to the needs of students.
- Working knowledge of the basic elements of the teaching processes, particularly as they relate to teaching strategies for students supported by special education.
- Ability to manage teacher-generated small group activities either in-person or in virtual, breakout groups
- Ability to monitor and supervise students in the lunchroom, on the playground and in other group activities.
- Communicate regularly with teachers, administrators, and staff.
- Able to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and staff about students' academic tasks and comprehend how to support students to complete the task to the best of the students' abilities.
- Comprehensive distance learning able to communicate with students and families via email, video conferencing, phone etc.
- Ability to use computer and access email, internet and other technological tools.
- Can copy and paste hyperlinks into communications to students and staff, can select hyperlinks to connect to virtual meetings and read e-materials, can create Zoom or Google Hangouts meetings to meet with students and staff, can copy and create new Google Documents given a template.
- Ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills to assist in computer enhanced instruction.
- Ability to effectively monitor and supervise students and manage library resources
- Ability to maintain positive effective working relationships with students, teachers, administrators, staff, and parents.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Possess valid Oregon Driver's License; passage of a fingerprint based criminal history verification required upon offer of employment at new employee expense.
- Meet the District minimum physical ability/health standards for the position.
- Successful passage of a physical examination including drug screen at district expense is required.
REPORTS TO: Building AdministratorSUPERVISES: Such personnel as may be assignedGOAL:Performs paraeducator instructional duties assisting teachers in the implementation of instructional programs for individual students or small groups. May function in an instructional setting separate from the teacher, exercising a considerable degree of skill with limited supervision within the framework of a teacher-planned and evaluated program.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist classroom teacher with instruction of students with a variety of learning disabilities.
- Provides specially designed instruction - at the direction of the Learning Specialist - in and outside of the traditional classroom setting
- Works in small groups to support students with and without disabilities
- Monitors the progress of student learning goals per the student's IEP
- Supports instruction in virtual break-out rooms or in small groups during the instructional time
- Calls the families of students with disabilities to ensure students are engaged with, and can engage with, the content
- Serve as the primary source of information and assistance for substitute teachers assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Communicate regularly with agencies, doctors, parents or legal guardians, treatment centers, administrators, and staff.
- Attend staff and team meetings and provide information as requested.

WORKING CONDITIONS:Climate controlled environment with frequent exposure to noise levels from moderate to loud and occasional to frequent time periods.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:Temporary position Up to 135 day position / up to 3 hours 15 minutes per day. Member of the Classified Union. Salary and placement will be in accordance with the FY24/25 Classified Agreement's salary schedule Grade F.
