POSITION: Paraprofessional-Preschool Assistant (EDUStaff) LOCATION: Lessenger Elementary SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:15a.m.-5:15p.m. 10 Month position COMPENSATION: starting at $13.90-$15.11 based on experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the nature of work to be performed
  • Willingness to participate in our staff development program
  • Current child/adult CPR certification in Standard First Aid
  • Must submit to required background checks including completion of Michigan Childcare License programs
  • Be a positive role model to children and caregiving staff
  • Able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull and carry children up to 70 lbs.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and enthusiasm for working with children; kind, caring, patient, empathetic, creative and flexible
  • Strong planning and organizing skills
  • Able to withstand the strain of the position
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director may find appropriate and acceptable
RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes, not be limited to the following:
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a quality childcare program as assigned-includes lesson plans, observations, activity preparation, individualized instruction, problem-solving
  • Appropriately supervise children while maintaining a safe and harmonious environment
  • Meets the individual needs of each child in conjunction with implementation of the lesson plans
  • Treat each child with dignity and respect while helping each child be successful
  • Assists with meal prep, snacks and clean up routines
  • Assist with wash up, toilet routines and clothing
  • Perform student record keeping including food counts, attendance, observations, records and quarterly child assessments
  • Assist in preparing center and classroom displays and bulletin boards, room arrangement and the learning environment, consistent with the Lamphere Learning Ladder curriculum
  • Participates in Lamphere Learning Ladder staff meetings and staff development training programs
  • Establish positive relationships with parents including daily communication of student progress
  • Care for equipment and maintain a safe environment for children
  • Works cooperatively with school and Learning Ladder staff projecting the values of learning ladder at all times
