Job Title: SPED Paraprofessional

Reports To: SPED Director

Hiring Status: At-Will

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

FTE: 0.5 to 1.0

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:45 am - 11:15 am, could be extended to full time

Reporting Days: 176, 10 months

Compensation: Hourly

Start Date: asap

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education:? Associates degree or higher

Experience:? Classroom experience preferred

Background: Clear background check

Language: Strong verbal and writing skills in English, Somali or Spanish fluency preferred

Job Duties

Classroom Instruction

+ Collaborate with supervising teacher to provide instructional support to students.

+ Assist students to reach academic success.

+ Creates a classroom environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students, and allows them to perform at their very best.?

+ Utilizes academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics and assessments aligned to Athlos' 3 foundational pillars of a Prepared Mind ( ,?Healthy Body ( , and?Performance Character ( .?

+ Collect and report data on students' academic progress

+ Differentiates assistance based on individual needs, learning style, and abilities.?

Classroom and School Culture

+ Communicates a deep belief that all students can learn, and belong, in the classroom.?

+ Consistently implements school-wide management policies.?

+ Creates a positive learning environment by developing classroom rules, systems, and procedures.

+ Holds high expectations for student behavior at all times.?

+ Develops positive relationships with students, families, teachers, staff, and community members.?

Communication

+ Communicates professionally with parent/guardians and the community.?

+ Tracks student attendance, behavioral issues, and classroom events.?

Knowledge and Skills

+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Classroom and video platforms such as: Zoom or Teams.

+ Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage the entire classroom.

+ Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

+ Experience working in diverse communities and a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives.

+ Demonstrated integrity and high standards in managing information in a confidential and professional manner.
