Description BASIC FUNCTIONS:
  • Help identify, recruit, and maintain an appropriate caseload of families for the HIPPY Program
  • Meet with assigned HIPPY parents on a weekly basis, by conducting home visits with each family to role-play the HIPPY curriculum and revisit families according to need.
  • Attend mandatory weekly training of the HIPPY curriculum
  • Assist in preparing, providing, and cleaning up parent group meetings at participating campuses as assigned by program staff and participate in all regular HIPPY activities (i.e., Field trips, celebrations, training, etc.)
  • Refer appropriate families needing information/assistance to the HIPPY Coordinator for evaluation and social services referrals as needed.
  • Maintain family files with current and accurate information at all times
  • Enter data into the required database to comply with District, funders, and HIPPY USA requirements
  • Submit all required reports and documentation in a timely manner
  • Participate in staff development as deemed necessary by the District, HIPPY USA, and AmeriCorps for personal and professional growth
  • Perform other duties as requested by the HIPPY Specialist, Program Director, Early Childhood Executive Director
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate.
  • Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job.   • High School Diploma or USA equivalency, plus one of the following: Associate degree, 48 hours college credit hours, pass an academic assessment.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a HIPPY part-time Home Instructor preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the community the program serves, including resources available in the geographic area
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/ development and behavior characteristics
  • Demonstrated ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills required to meet the goals of the position
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to students and parents in a positive manner
  • Must have own transportation to conduct home visits
  • Be a current or previous parent in the program preferred
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a HIPPY part-time Home Instructor is preferred
  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish) preferred
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession
