Park Hosts reside at each county campground and are there lend support to campers, visitors, and county Parks staff. The park host agrees to perform tasks assigned by Parks staff and abide by Parks policies as written in Tillamook County Ordinance 43. Examples of Essential Duties EXPECTATIONS, RULES AND DUTIESSpecial Instructions for the 2025 Season:
- Volunteer Hosts must arrive for their hosting duties between April 1 & April 14, 2025.
- Training will begin between April 14 & May 1, 2025.
- Season starts May 1, 2025, and ends October 1, 2025.
- Evaluations begin in September for end of season. If needing longer than October 1st, please discuss with Park Management.
Park hosts will work and live in their assigned campground:
- Park hosts must provide their own RV or camping trailer.
- Park hosts are expected to be model campers and set an example with clean, orderly campsites.
- Park host sites and campground outbuildings are inspected regularly.
- Excess and/or mass storage of personal belongings is not permitted at host sites.
All structures or storage containers must be pre-approved by Parks management.Plants and gardens must be grown in portable containers.Park host identifying signage will be placed at all park host sites.Overnight guests in host sites are allowed with prior approval by Parks management.Park hosts represent Tillamook County and the Tillamook County Parks Department:
- Dress appropriately and in uniform while on-duty.
- Avoid offensive conduct and the use of offensive language.
- Alcohol or tobacco consumption is not permitted while actively on duty.
Park hosts perform guest services and are available to guests as necessary:
- Greet visitors and make them feel welcome.
- Answer questions, receive comments, and be accessible to all visitors.
- Serve as a representative contact point for campers and travelers.
- Clean campsites when they are vacated and prepare them for future use.
- Place reserved tags at reserved campsites prior to guest arrival.
- Clean restrooms and showers each day as specified by Parks staff.
- Regularly inspect and stock restrooms, spot clean as necessary.
- Notify emergency services and Parks staff when emergencies arise or when guest activities within the campground/park warrant additional assistance.
- Perform maintenance duties such as mowing, weed-eating, landscaping, or other maintenance tasks as assigned by Parks Staff.
Typical Qualifications BACKGROUND CHECK
- All park hosts (paid & volunteer) must pass a background check prior to occupying their assignment with Tillamook County Parks.
Supplemental Information All winter-season, and all contracted (paid) park hosts perform regular host duties with the addition of:
- Answering and returning telephone calls.
- Making, changing, or cancelling campsite reservations.
- Taking payment for camping reservations or other Parks items/products.
- Working with other campground park hosts to better serve guests as needs arise.
Hours and Days off:
- Volunteer Park hosts are expected to work for a total of four (4) hours per day, five (5) days per week with two (2) consecutive days off.
- All park hosts are volunteers during the winter season.
- Contracted (paid) park hosts are expected to work for a total of eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days per week with two (2) consecutive days off.
- One Park host per campground is paid as contracted staff from May 1 through September 30.
- Additional duties may be assigned as necessary OR as agreed upon by Tillamook County Parks and the park host. Do not initiate tasks without prior arrangement or approval from Parks management.
BENEFITS PROVIDED
- Park hosts will receive as compensation for services a full hook-up RV site that provides water, sewer, electric, and propane. Each host site includes a fire pit and picnic table.
- Park hosts will receive training upon starting their assignment and as needed or as requested.
- Park hosts will receive Tillamook County Parks uniforms (to be returned at the end of service.)
- Tools and equipment will be provided.
