Qualifications

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience.

NSQs:

* Employees must obtain and maintain their Emergency Medical Responder license within 1 year of employment.

* Employees must obtain and maintain their Certified Interpretive Guide certificate within 1 year of employment.

Overview

Under general supervision, is responsible for park interpretation and conservation work of average difficulty; and performs related work as required. The Park Interpretive Ranger 2 may assist with staff program scheduling. The Park Interpretive Ranger 2 functions to provide interpretative review and support to park staff including planning, implementing a park resource management plan, and may supervise park staff and seasonal employees.

This is the lead class for the Park Interpretive Ranger sub-series. An employee in the class trains other park staff including other park programming staff. This class differs from the Park Interpretive Ranger 1, in that the incumbent of the Park Interpretive Ranger 2 acts in a training capacity.

Responsibilities

* Prepare and provide high-quality interpretive, recreational experiences including educational and volunteer opportunities within parks. Examples are guided tours, skills demonstrations, workshops, and events. Certified Interpretive Guide training is required.

* Research and develop mission-based and site-specific exhibit content and program outlines. Curate a park program library and train program providers in delivery of library programs.

* Coordinate natural and cultural resource management activities to support the objectives of the parks site goals.

* May be required to act as a medical responder and assist with search and rescue operations. Emergency Medical Responder training is required. Other trainings will be site specific.

* Coordinate interpretive program schedules including calendar creation, program promotion, and program staffing.

* Support seasonal interpretive staff and other park staff in the programming needs of the park.

* Create in-park exhibits and signs and develop interpretive action plans.

* Develop and foster relationships and partnerships with community members and organizations in order to increase the park programming capacity.

* Support administrative tasks related to park programming including budget and operational review.

* Provide peer review and coaching for park programs.
