The City Council are looking to appoint a qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic individual who will assist the Senior Conservation Ranger to ensure that practical maintenance is carried out to a high standard whilst at the same time, the interests of nature conservation and biodiversity are thoroughly considered in our varied and vibrant green spaces.
This is an important front-line service and standards expected of staff are high. The successful candidate will be thorough and diligent in their work, with a customer-focused attitude. You will need to communicate effectively, providing information and advice to park users and other visitors acting in a public relations role.
The post is based at Hartsholme Country Park where you will assist with the day-to-day operation of the park along with the adjacent Swanholme Lakes SSSI. Duties will be of a largely practical nature but will also include assisting in the development of management plans and risk assessments, general record keeping and interacting with various outside bodies from volunteer workers though to camp site guests.
A flexible approach to working is anticipated to cope with changing priorities within a busy environment and a small team. You will be expected to have a reasonable knowledge of practical greenspace management and a demonstrable interest in conservation issues and species ID.

Candidates will need to be computer literate and comfortable using Microsoft 365 and Teams. A full driving license is essential for this post.
Key responsibilities:
* To assist the Senior Conservation Ranger with management and maintenance duties on land within Hartsholme Country Park and Swanholme Lakes Local Nature Reserve.
* To undertake caravan / campsite duties as directed by the Senior Conservation Ranger. Weekend working as directed.
