STARTING PAY: $13.50/HR DOQSUMMARYUnder indirect supervision, this position is responsible for performing skilled and semi-skilled labor for the Parks and Recreation grounds and facilities. Duties include general landscaping, irrigation repair/install, tree maintenance, as well as maintenance to park facilities including minor plumbing.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES - Performs maintenance and repairs to park grounds and facilities.
- Operates heavy equipment.
- Operates tractors to renovate, level, top dress and mow.
- Plants, prunes and fertilizes trees and shrubs.
- Repairs and installs irrigation systems.
- Assists Foreperson with training new employees.
- Performs routine snow and ice removal.
- Empties trash weekly.
- Maintains detailed cost, tasks and spray records.
- Operates pay loader and backhoe.
- Performs minor welding repairs.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Any combination of training and experience with at least completion of the eighth (8th) grade. Valid Texas Class C Driver's License required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Ability to operate and repair small/light equipment, such as power tools.
- Ability to operate and repair medium equipment and machinery, such as vehicles or commercial mowers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skill.
- Ability to work in undesirable conditions and inclement weather.
