Salary: $47,174.40 - $63,315.20 AnnuallyLocation : Shelton, WAJob Type: Full-timeJob Number: 2024-014Department: Parks, Recreation & FacilitiesOpening Date: 11/12/2024Closing Date: 11/29/2024 11:59 PM PacificDescription The person in this position is responsible for the indoor and outdoor maintenance and repair of City facilities and other areas for which the Public Works & Parks and Facilities Department is responsible. Including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, grounds and custodian duties. This is a union, non-civil service position.Works under the direct supervision of the Parks and Facilities Field Supervisor.This position is within a collective bargaining unit. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain, repair or install a wide range of electrical components including electrical motors, circuits, wires, outlets, fixtures, appliances, ballasts and lights.Maintain, repair and replace plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets, dispensers, drinking fountains and pipes; clear obstructions from sewer lines, drains and sump pumps.Schedule project and work assignments to provide minimum interruptions to City and Departmental operations.Order maintenance and custodial supplies for co?workers as directed by parks and facilities field supervisor.Develop project scope and work to be performed including materials required.Lift and move furniture within and between buildings and facilities.Provide remodeling services requiring carpentry skills, including fastening cabinets to walls, painting, and replacing doors and locks.Perform preventative maintenance duties such as changing filters and lubricating H.V.A.C equipment.Diagnose heating/cooling systems and problem solve under supervision of the parks and facilities field supervisor.Perform custodial care of City facilities and building grounds including, but not limited to, vacuuming, dusting, window washing, rug and floor maintenance care, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms.Perform preventative and routine maintenance on equipment including but not limited to auto scrubbers, extractors, buffers, vacuums, vehicles, and other related equipment. Respond to City emergencies.Work overtime as required to complete assigned tasks. Perform entry level manual labor necessary in maintenance, repair, and construction on City facilities, parks and grounds including landscaping, mowing, alley and right of way trimming, custodial and maintenance duties.Duties may include preventive and general equipment repairs and maintenance, including but not limited to, landscaping, irrigation, and department equipment and tools, vehicle maintenance, and other general maintenance tasks. Qualifications/Requirements To perform this job successfully, the person in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or have a GED. Have a minimum of two (2) years' experience in facilities maintenance and operations, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required for the position.COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have good communication skills; requires a calm demeanor in responding to customer questions and/or complaints and dealing with the general public in everyday activities.WORK SCHEDULE: The person in this position will be required to work a 40-hour per week schedule with a minimum of two consecutive days off. The work may require weekend work.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to complete mathematical calculations required to successfully accomplish assigned job tasks.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to work within established guidelines with little direct supervision. Ability to perform repetitious tasks and have a high degree of sound independent judgment. Ability to coordinate various activities and projects with changing priorities, coordinate equipment use, schedule repairs and maintain records. Ability to think in a creative and innovative fashion, with a demonstrated ability to adapt to change and to apply new solutions to problems.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License and have the ability to follow Federal and State Motor Vehicle Laws. Have, or have the ability to obtain, a First- Aid/CPR and Flaggers Card.OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to use tools and equipment used in building and custodial maintenance, such as hand and power tools including, but not limited to, power saws, power sanders, drills, air compressors, paint sprayers, sewer augers, and other tools required for carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.
