POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Mayor, the Parks and Recreation Director oversees and directs all activities of the Parks and Recreation Department which includes strategic planning, development, and management of public parks, recreation facilities, recreation programs, community athletic programs, collaboration with the school district athletics, and community events. And ensure the highest quality of service to the public. The Parks and Recreation Director is responsible for the administration, management, and operation of the local parks and recreational systems. This role involves planning, organizing, implementing, and overseeing a variety of programs and activities that

promote physical, social, and cultural well-being within the community.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

· Knowledge of administrative principles and practices, including budget preparation, goal setting, program development, implementation and evaluation and supervision of staff, either directly or through subordinate levels of supervision.

· Ability to effectively represent the Village with governmental agencies, community groups and other various business, professional, educational and regulatory organizations.

· Ability to analyze situations and adopt a quick, effective, and reasonable course of action.

· Ability to establish and maintain harmonious and effective working relationships with employees, department officers other Village officials, and the general public.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum

High school diploma (or GED), and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a recreational, hospitality and/or facilities management or other applicable field, including supervisory experience, or the equivalent combination of experience and education, proficient in a variety of computer technologies (including Microsoft Office Suite); and a valid State of Ohio Driver's License.

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Public Administration, Hospitality, Leisure Studies, Business or a related field.

Certifications

CPR, First Aid, and Certified Pool Operator (CPO) are required, or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
