The Parks and Recreation Division is seeking a dynamic Project/Program Manager III to lead and coordinate fleet and inventory supply management for our organization. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping how we manage resources and support our mission to inspire healthy communities through our parks. About the Role: As the Fleet & Inventory Coordinator for Parks, you will provide program management, coordination, and strategic insight into the Division's fleet inventory and supply needs. Reporting to the Deputy Division Director, this position resides in the Division Director's Office, which oversees leadership, administration, project and program management, and customer service for the Parks & Recreation Division. Your work will support both day-to-day operational coordination as well as mid- and long-term fleet and inventory planning. You will be involved in key initiatives such as fleet electrification, conducting budget and resource assessments, and developing performance metrics for fleet and inventory utilization. Your contributions will ensure the efficient use of resources while preparing the division for future needs and environmental goals.   • Track and analyze fleet data to optimize size, composition, and efficiency.
  • Recommend vehicle purchases/disposals to maintain operational balance.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
  • Manage fleet rentals to reduce costs and maximize vehicle utilization.
  • Monitor fuel consumption and implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and lower emissions.
Inventory Support:
  • Oversee equipment and supply needs, supervising Inventory Processing Specialists.
  • Administer the fleet and inventory management program across multiple locations.
  • Ensure accurate tracking, ordering, and distribution of inventory.
Project/Program Planning for Fleet Electrification:
  • Collaborate with Fleet Administration and stakeholders to plan and support fleet electrification efforts.
  • Identify barriers, opportunities, and operational needs for transitioning to electric vehicles (EVs).
  • Assist in developing and executing an EV transition plan.
  • Track and forecast vehicle needs, coordinating budgets and resources for electrification.
  • Conduct needs assessments to prioritize EV charging infrastructure, ensuring diverse perspectives are considered.
Coordination and Collaboration:
  • Facilitate coordination between the Parks & Recreation Division and DES/Fleet Administration to align fleet operations.
  • Participate in the DNRP Fleet Committee and support fleet coordination across DNRP divisions.
  • Promote an inclusive environment that values diversity in collaboration and decision-making.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory management practices.
  • Implement new processes or optimize existing ones to increase efficiency, transparency, and accuracy.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement that values diverse ideas and experiences.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Qualifications You Bring:
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in project or program management, including a proven track record of independently managing complex projects or programs while meeting deadlines and delivering results in dynamic environments.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience, with a proven track record of successfully leading or supervising teams and individuals to support professional growth and team effectiveness.
  • Proven ability to track, analyze and summarize data and forecast using tools like Excel, Tableau, PowerBI or similar technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating program effectiveness and ability to advocate for improvements based on data-driven insights and operational needs.
  • Proven ability in building strong relationships and collaborating with diverse partners, including internal customers, leadership and other government agencies.
  • Experience analyzing plans, policies or budgets related to fleet inventory or similar program area
  • Experience presenting complex data and insights to managers and customers to help inform decision making and drive organizational improvements
  • Excellent Customer service skills with the ability to deal tactfully, patiently, and courteously with diverse individuals including government officials, leadership, organizational colleagues and external partners.

Required Licenses: Valid Driver's License or ability to get to worksites across King county. It Would Be Great If You Also Bring:
  • Background in logistics, supply chain management, inventory management or operations
  • Prior experience with Inventory management software and systems
  • Proficiency in creating dashboards and monitoring and reporting on performance metrics.
Supplemental Information Working Conditions:
  • Onsite Work Details: Employees in this role work remotely from a home location, with onsite reporting requirements typically 1-3 times a week. The frequency of onsite work is determined by business needs and may be adjusted accordingly. Onsite reporting locations may be at various King County worksites including the Parks Sunset Shop (13659 18th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98168), collaboration space at King Street Center (201 S. Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98104) and the future Central Maintenance Facility in Renton. This work arrangement promotes work-life-balance and reduces carbon footprint under the department's vision of Green Where We Work.
  • Work Location Requirement: Employees must reside in Washington State and be within a reasonable distance to King County worksites to meet onsite reporting requirements.
  • Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
